[TPU] Radeon R9 295X2 Pictured in the Flesh, Specs Leaked - Page 25

it is so damn ugly
If you take the time to read through that thread you'll realize that there is more people complaining. In this thread there is another user saying that a single R9 290 melted his cable...can you see the pattern? wink.gif

It doesn't mean all of them are bad units. In fact most reviews of them are excellent. I've had mine X-850 over a year now, not a single problem. My graphics card is heavily overclocked, same with the CPU. The voltage regulation is awesome.

I have a R9-290 (unlocked to X) its also running at 1250mhz/1700 memory. In some games. I've also had it mining. with the same card. Before the R9-290, I had two 7950's in crossfire air cooled, all from the same psu.

The cables on the Seasonic units are not braided, they are ribbon/ flat cables with little protection. Combine that with cable management and some nasty sharp edges that can commonly be found in some computer cases you can then see why their are failures like this. Its not a power supply problem, its a user installation and little protection problem.

Will looks better with a ek waterblock for sure
post #245 of 286

The Titan Z looks aesthetically better. The 295X2 looks like a Chinese counterfeit.

I have serious concerns regarding the cooling. I find my card to be "slightly" hot. I reckon we'll see 100c+ temps on this card. RMA waiting to happen. Also how is it meant to power itself with only two 8-pins? That thing needs at least 3x8PIN + 1x6PIN minimum.

AMD used to name all their dual GPU cards with an -X2...it was nice since any one could look at the name and know it was a dual GPU graphics card. Now if you haven't researched it you'd have no way of knowing that a 7990 was a dual GPU just by looking at the name.

This thing would be insane on a proper water cooler. Can't wait to see what they do with an EK block. The stock cooler is a mess. Kind of surprising to see a frankenstien set up directly from AMD. This won't be for an SFF build with a ~30mm rad in push/pull.
