Kinda sucks they didn't name it 290x2 or will they?!
I mean 3870x2 4870x2 5970 6990 7990 the first 2 were far more clear than the later.

Well, I don't think they've officially announced it. The one early reviewer I saw was calling it a 295x2. So I think they could change the name yet, but I am sure the reviewer was calling what AMD was calling it. So I doubt it.

Yeah my brother thought a R9 290 was a 7990 with different name.

if you are spending that much on a card, id expect you would have a case that can mount a 240 radiator pretty much anywhere.

Though this card aesthetically is absolutely awful looking.

I have serious concerns regarding the cooling. I find my card to be "slightly" hot. I reckon we'll see 100c+ temps on this card. RMA waiting to happen. Also how is it meant to power itself with only two 8-pins? That thing needs at least 3x8PIN + 1x6PIN minimum.

lol i dont think it looks that bad, they just need to arrange the colors better, the red color is what makes it look a tad bit bad, they should put a nice silver color there

Hopefully the 295 doesn't pop like the 590 did

Tom's Hardware: "As with traditional overclocking, increasing the R9 290X's power limit alters AMD's specification. Company representatives assure us that Hawaii is meant to be used at 95 degrees, but that's already really hot. We're not sure yet how pushing power even higher will affect the GPU's reliability. Take a cautious approach under the enthusiast community has more time to experiment (you'd better believe Nvidia is going to figure out what it takes to make this thing pop as soon as it can)."

Hawaii is a generalization of the entire series but in this case is talking about the 290X which is supposedly what this 295X2 has two of. I therefore expect their stock design, water cooled or not, to run hotter than expected.

If you're gonna drop ~$1500 on a new card, you can surely afford a $150 fullcover waterblock biggrin.gif
