Where are the R9 290m/8970m laptops

Not long ago I read a review of the AMD 8970m mobile graphics card on Toms and it looks to be a very good bang for buck and a search later I found Sager selling those cards.
Now a month later Sager doesn't sell the card or any AMD mobile GPUs.

The performance of the 8970m was between a 780m and 770m but $300 cheaper than 780m.

Anyone have a clue what's going on with AMD mobile GPUs?

I'm looking to upgrade my laptop from 460m to maybe a 860m/870m/ 290m?

Oh ok so your looking to get a replacement laptop.

Im not very knowledgeable on AMD GPU availability.

When I look around it seems that its usually coupled with the A10 APU save for the clevo unit which received poor reviews as well...

maybe one of the other guys can give you better information though, sorry I couldnt be of much help . Its unfortunate that you dont have an MXM laptop, as the 7970m+ can be had on ebay

I got the Clevo P157SM model from MYSN as an upgrade to my old W860CU. I can honestly say i am very impressed. The laptop is cooled very well, is silent when being used and actually has a decent battery life. It runs every game i own at max (BF3, LOL, SC2, GW2) without any stutters. Average temps are @ 72c for CPU and 76c for the GPU.

If someone is looking for a good laptop and doesnt want to spend alot of money on ASUS G series or Alienware this is the way to go. It also has a quite decent backlit keyboard.

I payed 1300 euros for:

4770QM
2x4gb 1600mhz DDR3 (2 slots free, total of 4 slots)

AMD 8970M 4gb

Full HD 95% gamut LCD screen

Thanks for the advice. How heavy is the Clevo? 1337LutZ that a very tempting deal. I play pretty much the same games, except DOTA in place of LoL.

I take my present laptop to work and sometimes take it abroad on long trips to game on time to time. That's the reason I'm trying to pick a 15.6" laptop such as a MSI GS60 or Lenovo Y50 with a reasonable weight since this Asus g53 is just too heavy and clunky. My backpack for 17" laptops barely fits this thing.

It is around 3.4kg, not THAT heavy for a DTR laptop. If you want some more info here is a similar one with the 780M. http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-One-K56-3N2-Clevo-P157SM-Notebook.93275.0.html

lol I keep my desktops 290s under water biggrin.gif

The biggest problem with AMD mobile cards seems to be drivers and cooling. Last time I used a ATI card it was a 4000 series in a sony sr46 and back then they were pretty good. Looks like they not the same anymore. Was a amazing laptop 13.3 inches played all the game back then.
