Dump Firefox?

Thread Starter
I have been to a few sites that have been boycotting FF because of the political stance of the head CEO and I heard that 3 of the founders/CEO's resigned, too. I am reading more and more people are switching over to chrome. I do not like the memory leaks that present themselves in FF either. Is it my turn, too? Is it vastly superior to Firefox? Does it have the plugins I need such as Adblock Plus, Flagfox and YouTube Center?

I have used Firefox before chrome for about 6 years, once I switched to chrome about a year and a half ago I haven't looked back. I say go for it. Yes you go to chrome store and you can get extensions such as Adblock etc.

I'll just stick with firefox 20. No upgrades for me...

You can get Youtube Centre and AdBlock on chrome, I am using it right now.

I went back to chrome, Firefox is a mess right now, for me its slow, crashes randomly and was incompatible with websites.

Actually, any organized boycott of Mozilla because of the personal views of its CEO would be even more reason for me to support them. Everyone has a right to their views and opinions, whether or not someone else agrees with them. How far does society want to go when it comes to censoring the free expression of others?

As far as the valid point goes, which is whether or not you should switch to Chrome on the grounds that it might be a better browser, you should download Chrome for yourself and see what you think. It takes about 20 seconds on a broadband connection and doesn't cost you anything. I personally don't find it to be "vastly superior" to anything, especially since it's basically Google spyware, but you might feel differently.

What makes Google spyware? Why is it OK for so many people? If it was truly spyware wouldn't people rise up?

The "boycott" of Firefox was a commercial stunt by okCupid. It backfired rapidly and today they already stopped annoying people about a donation from 6 year ago.

OkCupid was wrong for various reason:
Firefox is open-source. You can build a new firefox that has nothing to do with the CEO. So if you disagree the CEO just build a new fork (there are already ton of them right now, pale moon, waterfox, etc)
Okcupid did not build a new firefox. They are being hypocritical.

The CEO of Firefox is the creator of Javascript. A language widely utilized on the net. So if you really disagree with him you just stop using Javascript.
OkCupid could not work without Javascript. They are being hypocritical.

It was just a marketing move trying to appeal to the lgbt community. Even the lgbt community find the move dumb and irrelevant.

Anyway. Chrome is controlled by Google. Google track its user so they can serve them advert. If you cannot accept that, try an open source version of Chrome (Chromium). It will not track your web navigation, like google do.

Oh, joy. Another one of these witch-hunts.

I've seen FF use a lot of memory for years and years, now. Only rarely does it ever go out of control and bring my system to a slow-down by taking up 1GB+ of memory. And I don't know what OSX 10.9 does, but for whatever reason, FF (and all other programs) uses less memory compared to other OSs.

I'd say roll back to a quality browser.
