Please Help - Need Config for New Computer

Hi,

Here are my requirements:

1. Good intel processor for multi-tasking. I guess something that has 4 core with 8 threads per core processor??

2. Compatible motherboard.

3. 2 x 4GB DDR3 ram. Is it possible to use 4 x 4GB DDR3 ram?

4. I have 500W PSU (Brand: FSP) Is it enough?

5. I will buy one graphics card first. But the system should be able to handle 2 to 4 graphics cards; so I can also use it for litecoin mining while doing my regular work like auto internet surfing (4 to 10 firefox windows using imacros).

6. I don't need - printer, monitor, DVD drive, keyword and hard disk as I will use them from my old PC.

7. Max budget is INR 40,000 (US $650 approx)

8. Anything else?

Thanks smile.gif

This could be a little tough with a budget that small.  Also, did you forget a copy of Windows?  If you currently have an OEM copy rather than a retail copy, you'll have to buy another copy of Windows for this build.

Do you know for sure that all of the applications that you are going to "mult-task" with can use Hyperthreading? I ask, because once you jump up to the i7 series there is a fairly steep price differential between those and the i5s.

You've got a pretty tight budget.................

Frankly, based on budget constraints it might be a better value for you to consider a multi-core AMD based build instead.

That's a tight budget for an i7 intel build. You may want to look at AMD. Or check the OCN market place..

I'm not seeing the retail editions on Amazon now, probably because Microsoft is discontinuing sales of Windows 7 in favor of Windows 8.  The OEM edition (which is cheaper, but once installed on a computer, its license cannot be transferred to a different computer in the future) is running $99.28 for Windows 7 SP1 x64 Home Premium, and $133.99 for Windows 7 SP1 x64 Professional on Amazon.
Please note that the Home Premium edition is limited to 16 GB RAM max, while the limit for the Professional edition is 192 GB of RAM.

Thank you for your replies.

I can't increase my budget much so I can go with Intel i5 and I won't buy graphics card now. So please suggest i5 base configuration that can be used to run at least 2 graphics cards (60w + 60w power uses) at a time.

Thanks smile.gif

I have 500 watts PSU by a company name FSP. I am not sure what more you are asking. Do you think I need to buy better PSU? Please suggest.
