Please Help - Need Config for New Computer - Page 2

Unlikely that you'll need a larger power supply right off the bat since you are going to hold off on a multi-gpu setup right now. FSP isn't the greatest or the worst power supply brand and I haven't personally had any issues with FSP power supplies that I've used in the past for low - mid range builds.

Where will you be buying your components from? Answer that so we can point you towards stuff that is actually available when you want to buy.

I will be buying it in Mumbai, India. I may buy offline and/or online from theitdepot.com or ebay.in

Well since nobody has actually suggested anything, I will.

If this rig is for mining, you dont need a powerful CPU at all. Basically a 4-core/4-thread or 2-core/4-thread will work perfectly.

An i3-4430 or similar is perfect for web browsing and such.

For mining, you dont need that much ram, I would say, for your needs, a 4GB kit would work perfectly. G.Skill or Kingston, they are usually the cheapest and great quality.

For the motherboard, get one with a bunch of pci-e slots. H87 or Z87. An Asus Z87-plus or AsRock Extreme 4/6 should be within your budget and has enough slots for like 5 cards. It also has proper power phasing so you wont burn out the PCI slots.

You will need a freaking huge PSU, like 1300W probably. But your FSP will due until you can afford to get the proper cards for it. You can support 1 card with that 500W, but I wouldn't push it with 2. FSP group isnt great when it comes to PSU's.

Just get yourself like a 64GB SSD, you probably wont need the storage anyhow.

@ADHDadditiv
This rig is not for mining. It will be a work horse doing automated web surfing in mutiple FireFox windows. Currently I am using Core 2 Duo that has 2 cores and 2 threads/core so total 2x2 = 4 threads. I noticed that if one firefox window can do 100 records per hours then upto 4 firefox windows the work completion rate is similar - 100 x 4 = 400 records per hour with 4 FF (FireFox) windows. But if I run 5 FF Windows then also I get 400 records per hour only and NOT 500 records. So I need powerful processor that can easily handle upto 10 FF Windows. I guess 4-core/4-thread will be enough for that.

So please help me with the configuration. Here are new requirement.

=> I already have

HDD
500W PSU (ready to buy new if it's not enough)
Monitor
Graphics card HD6450
Keyboard
Mouse
DVD Writer
iball cabinet. don't know the model number etc. If it's not ok then ready to buy new cabinet

INR 40,000 (US $650 approx) to buy processor, motherboard, RAM and other stuffs.

=> I NEED help for

Processor (4-core/4-thread, Intel only)
Compatible good quality Motherboard.
DDR3 RAM (2 x 4GB)
PSU ~ if needed
cabinet ~ if needed
anything else?

Please note, I keep my system for 5 to 6 years so please suggest quality stuffs only.

I did little research and I think Intel Core I5-4440 3.1GHz Processor will be ok for me.

Is it good?

That is a decent processor would work for your needs. Hmm...

I hate to do this, since your so dead set on getting an intel processor. But if its pure multi-box scripting, you might be better off with this FX 8320
http://www.theitdepot.com/details-AMD+FX-Series+FX+8320+8-Core+3.5Ghz+Processor+(FD8320FRHKBOX)_C30P16900.html

Costs less, 8-cores so you can for sure run 10FF or more. Uses a bit more power though. Couple that with a Gigabyte UD3 or UD5 and your ready to go.

But in any case, I understand what you need now.

I would say 8GB (2x4GB sticks) of G.Skill or Kingston RAM, get whichever case you like. PSU should be fine and you shouldnt need a different GPU. Maybe hook yourself up with an SSD if you have extra money at the end. Just like a 64GB one, it will make Firefox open and load faster. thumb.gif

*EDIT*
Honestly, you dont even need as good of a motherboard as previously suggested. For Intel, and H87 board will be more then enough and for the AMD, any 990FX board will work. thumb.gif

Agreed, based on the OPs usage scenario, I still think an AMD FX-8320 is a better choice. This coming from a guy who is normally a fairly staunch Intel guy (at least for the last several years anyway).
