3 monitors on GeForce GTX 780

Hello everyone,

I just got a HDMI switch/splitter (x2 hdmi in 1 into my pc), so that im able (or thought i was able) to connect the following to my 780:

1 HDMI connection to a Philips TV
1 HDMI connection to a projector BenQ W1070
1DVI to a AOC desktop screen

How ever - I am uable in making a connection for all 3 units...

When i first tried connection them all, only my desktopscreen worked. I then tried reconnecting only 1 of the hdmi screen (TV) via the HDMI-splitter (the DVI connection is always in and working) and that worked. I then tried to connect the projector and it worked, in windows log in, with a wierd resolution (projector), once it entered windows both TV and projector turned black....

Does any1 know what to do? Is it simply not possible to connect 3 screens via the gfx card? Do i need to activate a feature on my pc?

Any help would be highly appreciated - mind in pretty novice, so explenation on a n00bish level would be greatly appreciated.

In advance thanks.

are you trying to display 3 separate screens at all times, duplicate the image from one onto the other? i have 4 screens hooked up to my 680 and 3 connected to 770. should be able to do it no proble. i just dont know why you wanted the hdmi switch box.

Hello thanks for your reply,

I'm trying to duplicate the image from my pc to 3 different screen - its not because i have them on at the same time, its just that my pc is hidden away, and i dont want to have to change HDMI each time i move from livingroom (projector) to bedroom (philips tv).

Well i'm using the hdmi splitter because i only have 1 hdmi port on my pc... there is another port that looks like hdmi, but its - seems like its alittle bigger. So i thought i could just get a splitter and problem solved :-/ wrong i was.

Any ideas?

the other port is a display port, you would need an adapter to go to hdmi. the problem i see with the splitter is it is not functioning as a splitter, only as a switch for 1 display at a time. your gtx 780 has 2 dvi connectors, an hdmi, and display port correct?
What i would do in your situation is get dvi to hdmi cables to get rid of the need for that hdmi box. that way it can all be managed from the software and not have an extra piece of hardware to fail or configure.
how long do you need the cables to be? you can either get a dvi to hdmi cable or simple adapter. the simple adapter would allow you to use the existing hdmi cables right off of the card.
this should be a cheap option for you.

edit: are all 3 displays the same resolution?

the only downside i see using dvi to hdmi, is the audio loss. I do not know if it is or is not possible to run audio through a dvi connection. at this point in time i say no. So if you need audio run to the tv and projector you will most likely need another audio output for which ever one is connected to the dvi. the output device is easily changed in the windows sound from control panel.

Hey Xander.

Must be the most competent answer i've gotten ever via the internet... Thank you very much!! You are right, 2xdvi and 1xhdmi

I will get a hdmi to dvi asap! I actually dont need Sound to my projector, since its hooked up to my surround via a jackstick, so your solution its spot on.

Let me know if theres something i Can do for you!

edit: if you feel i have helped you could give rep. not sure if its allowed on the forum to ask for rep but i believe it should be in bounds in this situation, referring to this article http://www.overclock.net/t/239915/reminder-the-rep-system-its-proper-usage

No problem at all, i love helping people and i love computer technology *most of the time. So naturally a job in the IT field works well. I hope it is not too late to return the hdmi switch you bought. good luck
