We really need more of orange...

I'm hoping that at least the Z97X-OC (or whatever Gigabyte calls it) comes with a few more features and comes with the black/orange colour scheme again... Love the dual USB 3.0 headers though.

....But they really need to find a better spot to put the PCIe extra power header!!!!

I don't think that there are 2 Year old Soundcards that need PCI Slots... its not even supported by the chipset and theres absoluteley no point in wasting space for a slot thats outdated since about 10 years. same with usb 2.

Should be able to max out Broadwell on air and water if the sub 120W overclock rumors are true

The M.2 SSDs wich are available now aren't faster than SATA 6 GB/s SSDs. Does someone know if there are faster ones coming soon? M.2 could become really interesting ...

Unless you are a bencher or building a very specific rig, (say Mini ITX for example), quality boards are all pretty much the same. Set Intel CPU to 4.5ghz, make sure it's stable and move on...

A $175 board provides pretty much the same performance as a $300 board (unless you need specific features or again a bencher).
Correct because more and more functionality are being moved to the CPU (or GPU):

Memory controller.
Integrated video.
Clock generator.
PCI-Express.
VRM.
Audio (AMD's TrueAudio)

Well, M.2 is just a shortcut to SATA-Express for the mainstream basically.

It's going to take time to go from SATA 6Gb/s to SATA-Express since there already is a huge installed based for it. However, M.2 is new and different enough to push it.
Once again...

Maybe the writer is wrong... lol

Some of this tech writing is more speculation than the news lately, here tho, not even good speculation. I mean look:

I mean if i had no knowledge of the board before seeing this picture i could deduct this info:

yellow=PCI-E slot naming, I don't see 16x/16x/16x/8x as in the article.
Blue is the Bigfoot NIC and PHY for Intel, you can compare the way the chips are laid out and components to previous models(size and pin count too) and figure out what chips they are.

Ugh I was prepared to grab a Gene VI and a 4670K and now the Z97 chipsets supposedly coming out with Haswell Refreshes, rolleyes.gif When do motherboard manufacturers like Asus come out with their boards, like their Maximus Z97 lineup, do they release before the processor is out or a couple weeks or months after? I dont feel like waiting two months for the board I want.

Also the Devils Canyon Haswell refresh, any potential date?

I remember hearing June for the refreshes, but now can't remember where I heard it.
