Hey Friends,
I have been searching for Windows based equivalent to DigLloyds Run-Area-Test for Mac. I am trying to benchmark the speed at which Windows 7/8/vista et all-connected to external HHD's transfer W/R performance for the entire span of an external disk or volume. I want to be able to access the data that would be in MB/s. So far I have tried HDtune (which does not test volumes only unpartitioned disks so I can't test RAID sets). HD Tach came close but I can only create a Read test and I can't export the data to a clipboard-type program. Let's see, Crystal Disk and many others just scan the head of the disk so they are out. Does anyone out there have a go-to program that they like and trust? I have already maxed out my allotted time for the search part of this process so I will be digging into my own pocket to continue the exploration.

Any help would be greatly appreciated
Steve

I was thinking of learning MYSQL I/O benchmark testing (http://blogs.technet.com/b/josebda/archive/2013/03/28/sqlio-powershell-and-storage-performance-measuring-iops-throughput-and-latency-for-both-local-disks-and-smb-file-shares.aspx). I understand that this program is mostly used for network testing but I hope that I can configure a batch test that will suite my needs. Does anyone have any history with this program?

thanks in advance,
Steve
