TLDR is in the title

Long version:

I have a evga gtx 260 (core 216, superclocked etc) http://imgur.com/KuKLr8J and a samsung UN50EH5000. The TV has RGB, HDMI inputs. http://imgur.com/IhCQXqI

I tried using an ATI brand DVI to HDMI with no luck (I think it was from my 5770). Ubuntu detects it via this method, but there is nothing on the TV.

Using HDMI cable with onboard HDMI, the picture looks ok, but there is a lot of artifacts. http://imgur.com/GU1yqGh

I have confirmed that it's no the hdmi cable causing this.

Using a USB drive, movies look amazing.

Am I right to assume that this TV is simply not suitable for use as a monitor?

My dads 55" sony smart LED LCD TV worked amazingly with the VGA input.

Both TV's are 1080p

Thanks for reading.
