USB soundcard still powered while in sleep mode?

Thread Starter
So I got a new Avid Mbox 3 soundcard that runs on usb, at first it would not shut down when I shut down the pc, then I activated ErP S5 in bios and it shut down when the pc shuts down, its still on when I put the pc to sleep, I tried going through the devices in device manager, everything here is set to either "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" or the box "allow this device to wake the computer" is not checked, except for my keyboard.

Are there other ways to make it shut down when I use sleep mode?
Maybe without using the ErP S5 mode, it seems my computer takes longer time to power on when I use that.

Thank you

Hard to say. I've seen a lot of Asus and Gigabyte boards keep power to the usb buses when the computer is off or in sleep mode. Good for things like charging a phone when the computer is off.

Since you've already checked device manager for allowing usb certain devices to sleep, I don't have much to suggest (as that is what I was going to say). Might be one of those things you have to live with.

Nice interface btw thumb.gif

Correct. My ASUS laptop has it as well. But I had to install software (driver I guess???) so it would charge a phone if it was turned off.

OP, maybe you have to search for that software on your PC and delete it? I guess it's not only a BIOS function, since I threw off my Win 8.1 and installed Win 7 on the laptop. And it did not charge anything until I installed that specific piece of software. I never went into BIOS for such an option...

Seems like there was a setting in the BIOS to turn off and prevent the USB ports from functioning when switched off. Thought the software driver was an add on to the USB 3. Not sure.

did you try to mess with Control Panel > Power Options > Change plan settings (for whichever power plan you're currently using) > Change advanced power settings > USB settings > USB selective suspend setting?

The USB selective suspend is set to enable.
