Will Amazon Fire TV be able to read pendrive? Does it support DLNA?

Hulu is the only one that I know of that has anything recent and it has commercials. Even if you pay for it they are still present. Also amazon prime has pretty much the same selection as netflix and you get free 2day shipping on pretty much everything on amazon (US that is) so for me its value is far beyond anything the competitors have. If I order like 10 items I have made the value back. The only reason I have netflix is becuase my Parents/sister use it at their house.

quite the contrary, i didn’t complain i just cancelled. I wasn’t happy with their service platform and charges.

as an aside the 'HD' which is a laughable term is a.) not as good as netflix and b.) neither offer anywhere near the quality of blueray or even 1080i tv and i prefer quality over convenience

finally with big data caps, throttling you can't guarantee that in the middle of a movie your image quality doesnt drop due to this, identically to when you lose a 720p stream on youtube and it steps to 360p

that is not a good good consumer model at this time until bandwidth is as guaranteed as hardcopy data. People can feel all smart streaming this new type of delivery service but there is nothing smart about overly compressed 1080p video with 16bit sub CD quality 2ch sound..

Yeah, all of these boxes (ChromeCast, Roku, AppleTV, etc.) are really just the transition stage into smart TVs. What I really hate is that there are ads in the I think Panasonic TV in our basement. I don't mean commercials - that's what DVR is for - but pop-up ads whenever you turn it on or change the volume. The Samsung TV does not have any ads, so it seems hit-or-miss depending on the brand. I wouldn't be surprised if Apple released a smart TV of their own with iOS and OS X integration and the Apple TV interface. I'd rather have an HTPC though. You can do more stuff with one.

I'm really really really hoping that Steam release an Android "SteamMachine" app so that we can stream games from Steam on our gaming PC to the Amazon FireTV redface.gif

this is what i ahve been wishing for since steam mentioned the game streaming.
all you need is a goofy box to control the stream and connect the controls.
you dont need anything more powerful than something like this.
heck something like the chromcast would work.
