You can change the RAM if you like but I like Crucial since they make their own RAMs, just like Seasonic and Superflower makes their own PSUs. You do not need to overclock the RAM, just set it through the "correct settings" using XMP profile through BIOs. It should take no more than few mouse clicks and few mouse scrolls smile.gif

Just stating that Crucial RAMs are also good for OCing (manually tighten the timings, instead of XMP profile)

I recommended U12S because the Xeon still tends to get hot in my experience at full load, I'm guessing that it is due to hyperthreading. I built one for a friend before. Although I live in a different country than you guys do which has probably cooler climate smile.gif

You can change the U12S with something like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Thermalright-BW-Support-Socket-Driver/dp/B008YTUN38/
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009MS326U/?tag=pcpapi-20

This has already a great performing fan, so no need to buy a new fan. It is also $20 cheaper than U12S, and performs close than a U12S. Buying a cheaper HSF (like hyper 212) and buying another fan (stock fan is loud at full load) will be priced almost the same as the CPU cooler above. The stock fan is just as quiet than Noctua's
Speaking of coolers, you do have to watch cooler size. If its too big, you risk covering a ram slot.

Crucial ballistix sport has a low height since they do not have high heatspreaders. HR02 and U12S doesnt block any normal height RAM slots thumb.gif

I updated the original post. I'm doing 2 sticks of that RAM. I kept the cooler the same for now. Added a disc drive(wanted br burner). Last would be GPU. Checking out the suggestions. Definitely looking for something amazing, I'm willing to splurge even a little bit more money for something more powerful as long as it can stay cool and quiet. Am I missing anything, should I be buying more fans? I also changed the PSU for a more energy efficient one, bad choice or what? I'm not entirely sure how it works. And is there a step up from this build? Like I was saying, I think I might be able to splurge more money on the build. Or would this pretty much max out every game out there right now?

make sure to buy dual channel 8gb x2, not two pieces of 8gb single stick!

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148663

EDIT:
are you going to put games in your SSD? not all games benefit from the SSD in my experience. not sure about graphics card, but I think you can get any sub $100 graphics card like gtx 650?

There is always a step up, but ATM, depending on the GPU, you can max everything apart from a few games, mainly Crysis.
You can buy extra fans if you want for the R4, but not really needed.
Good PSU choice, nice, higher end unit.

Ummm.... dual channel/quad channel is determined by the motherboard, not the RAM. Those kits are simply two separate 8GB sticks in one package.

GTX 650's are getting old, a more modern GTX 750 or R7 260 should work, like $120. thumb.gif Wont max anything though.

dual channel sticks are made by pair/batch for better compatibility. so buying separate single stick rams won't actually "activate" dual channel mode even though the board supports it.

buying separate single sticks may not be with the same batch when they are manufactured. so its likely not acivate dual channel mode

EDIT: i just said the same thing, twice doh.gif im too sleepy

oh I see. so what would be the most optimal ram if I'm not overclocking?

EDIT: Sorry, I see the link now, was on mobile before. So now it's just down to the GPU.

Ive used dual channel with 2 completely different memory sticks. As long as the timing and speeds are the same, you could use any 2 sticks (nearly). The RAM has no idea that there is other RAM in the system, nor does it case. The Motherboard controls everything to do with RAM. Basically, as long as OP buys an 8GB stick, then buys another stick of the same brand and speed, he should be fine. The batch number isnt even really programmed into the stick, maybe in an information queue but thats about it. Its all about speeds and timings.

I'm considering the GTX 770, thoughts? Then my build will be complete. This rig, it'll be able to pretty much tear out any game right now, right? Like BF4 on highest settings. Crysis would be playable on the highest settings?

GTX 770 should be able to max BF4 with like x2 or 4 AA, but it wont be playable for Crysis 3 on max settings. You would need a GTX 780 for that, maybe a little more.
But I have a GTX 770, love it!
I do believe the R9 280X is a little faster and cheaper though, look into those. thumb.gif
