Haha.

The first time I read the MacBane worklog I went onto eBay and bought a G4 straight away, that was 1 year and 3 days ago and mine is nearly done, I saw what photograph had done with his and saw all the ways I could add my touch to it and am so pleased with the result, when you watch people like Linus unboxing gigantic cases that only support as much radiator space as I have in Sour Apple that is what makes me happy biggrin.gif

Saw your project, kinda makes me feel like an amateur tongue.gif
I am going to make the modifications needed for the M-ATX board tomorrow.
Any advice for a backplate? I'm not letting my I/O stick out without a backplate haha.
Should I just use the plate that was in it and cut out a piece or make a seperate one?

Ok so I've made the modifications for the M-ATX board and swapped out the original 120mm fan for a new aluminum one with a regular 3 pin header.
(the board in the pic is just to check if it would fit)

Was having an issue though with this particular board. The Dimms hit the optical drive bay but the actual DVD drive is shorter than the bay so it could be solved with shortening the bay for the new board.
Another thing was that the 24 pin connector is up high on the H87 H3D which would also hit the optical drive frown.gif
Guess I'll either have to figure something out or leave the drive bay out... unless someone can recommend me a good OSX capable socket 1150 board that does not have the 24 pin up that high on the board.

Ok so since the board I would have picked is not an option, I picked the Gigabyte Z87MX-D3H since the 24pin is a little lower on the board.

Hoping to proceed somewhere next week. biggrin.gif

I am going to make the modifications needed for the M-ATX board tomorrow.
Any advice for a backplate? I'm not letting my I/O stick out without a backplate haha.
Should I just use the plate that was in it and cut out a piece or make a seperate one?

Would like to hear some tips smile.gif

I can give you a drawing of mine if you want, it just slots into the first PCI slot, I had to cut out and fill the plastic bar from the back as well as all of the original IO plate

I also had a much easier idea. you know the 2 screw holes for the back I/O plate? why don't I just cut a piece that fits there perfectly and drill 2 holes. GENIUS! biggrin.gif

the spots I marked with the 2 red dots.

Oh neat, mine didnt have that, nor did it have that odd double socket on the power supply. You will still need to cut out the plastic section between the IO and PCI slots if you want to use the top PCIE slot on your motherboard due to there being such a small gap between the IO shield and first slot on a standard case (5mm I think) alternatively you could use one of the other slots on the mobo but wouldnt have 16x.

Edit: this is what mine looked like

I'm going to use the bottom 2 slots since the mobo I ordered also has a 4x gen 3 slot at the bottom. Plenty for a GTX650 biggrin.gif
