Installing 2 MSI R9 290X LIGHTNING in XFire

They're going in an Nvidia vga computer and I need to know if everything Nvidia needs to be removed prior to installing the latest CAT software suite and drivers.
It's been quite a while, but the last time I remember some error about removing the Nvidia PhysX software. Either it shouldn't have been removed or it wasn't removed properly. I don't remember which.
I just go through the usual Control Panel uninstall of the Nvidia drivers and PhysX, then go back and use Driver Sweeper in Safe Mode to remove any traces of these software packages.
Then I perform a clean install of the latest CAT suite and drivers.
I'd been lusting over a pair of SAPPHIRE TRI-X OC 100361-2SR Radeon R9 290X 's, but when the MSI Lightnings came out it pushed me over the edge and I have a pair due to be delivered today.
Any idea why the shipping weight of these 2 cards is listed as 18.8 pounds? According to the specs, these cards weigh in at 1580 grams (55.7 oz./3.5 lbs.) each and I can't figure out what the other 11.8 pounds of the package weight may be.
Any idea if these will be worthy of BitMining? These cards are too new to be on the comparison charts, yet.
I'm considering trying out Bitmining for fun, education and profit. It seems like a nice little hobby for the cards when they aren't otherwise engaged.

Start up the PC in safe mode and run Display Driver Uninstaller, reinstall DX11 afterwards and should be good to go. You can get odd performance sometimes though.

Thanks. There really wasn't anything to it.
I just uninstalled my Nvidia drivers, deleted AfterBurner, ran Driver Sweeper in Safe Mode and that was it.
The install of the cards, CCC and latest Beta drivers went without a hitch.
I really don't care for the MSI Fan Controller software, but what choice do I have?
I much prefer setting up my own Fan Profile in AB, but since it won't even recognize I have any VGA fans, that's out.
There are so many OC parameters for AMD cards in AB, I haven't a clue where to begin.
I suppose I'm going to have to learn how to OC all over again. frown.gif
And try not to get confused when also OCing my Nvidia cards at the same time.
It looks like my addiction to building and running multiple high powered computers is catching up with me.
That's okay, though.
At least my power company still loves me.
