Use power cord plug from different psu or get adapter

Thread Starter
I just got a new Seasonic S12 II 620w but the power cord that came with it is a two pin european plug. Can I use the the power cable from my current S12 430w or should I just grab a three pin uk plug adapter? What would be better to do or is either option fine?

The cable from the 430w is probably a smaller gauge of cable than the 620w psu.

But the power between the two isn't outrageous, so you're fine to use the power cable from the 430w.

That's a possibility but from experience, even the most budget OEM PSU's come with decent power cords. So you should be fine.

You could always just cut of the EU plug and install a UK plug on the wire that came with it.

Just swap the cable. The currect draw is half that of PSU's in the US. At 220VAC it's not an issue until you get to the really big PSU's.

This is interesting I dug out my Seasonic 430w box out and I found another power cord inside it. Now I cannot remember for sure if the psu came with two different cords or if this is something I put in there from somewhere which I don't believe I did but it has been YEARS since I had look inside this box.

The power cord I've found still has the twist ties round it and at the connector end has this written:

LS-60
10A 250A
LINE TEK

On the three pin plug I can see a 13A fuse and on the plug it has 13A 250V written along with 'LINETEK BS-1363/A LP-60L'

Anyone recognise this as a Seasonic psu cord?

Now I had a look at the current power cord I have connected and on that it has this written:

10/250~ HS10S
IEC320 N/10486
Volex

and on the plug Volex 5A

Edit - Thinking back now I'm sure I did get two cables.

I'll use the 5A cable but why does it have 13A fuse in the other one as 5A is enough. Any risks using the 13A
