Mantle is going to be an absolute game changer for 295X2. 7990 got absolutely destroyed when Nvidia dropped FCAT on AMD's lap. AMD had a pure FPS winner and their parade was completely rained on by Nvidia bringing up frame times.
But it's looking like it's a great thing Nvidia made a huge deal out of it. It looks like Mantle is going to be a massive game changer for multiple GPU setups and it's going to be AMD only unless Nvidia wants to adopt Mantle as well. Or maybe MS can make DX12 work just as well on Nvidia hardware, but I would trust a GPU designer to create an API that control the GPU they designed over Microsoft.

This illustrates the graph I'm getting...
I get that sometimes with a single card. I have noticed that AMD drivers have some sort of thing that sometimes the frame time just gets absolutely terrible until you start alt-tabbing out of your game and closing things like Firefox. I have no idea how, but it happens to me in Linux AND Windows.
