Assuming they manage to find some talent for their marketing team to break the slowmotion trainwreck that has been going on over the past few releases of MS (especially XBOne).
I just want a ~8" Bay Trail tablet with 4GB of RAM, mSATA, HDMI and USB 3.0 host.

Dell almost had it with the V8P but blew it.

That would be awesome if Android ran on it. WP8 is kinda pointless when it can't run Windows programs. Make one that can dock and be a real Windows PC and I'll buy it.

It would need to be x86 to run full actual Windows. Hmm, Jaguar or Atom based phones? I'd approve!

That's the idea! Jaguar can do a sub-watt TDP IIRC. And, AMD has that docking tech where they can jack up power once it's plugged in.

I had to use a lumia 920 for 1 month and half when my girlfriend walked on my phone. Worst experience ever. No apps, many crash (browser), very very primitive phone overall. You can't search for a song and some albums weren't recognized as album (blackberry and android have no problem with that) so I had to scroll down and remember son title. Once the battery ran out while it was charging on the wall and the phone was stuck in a boot loop not being able to boot because battery was too low but wanting to boot because it was plugged to the wall. Very stupid design (you can't shut down the phone if you are charging it). Plus surfing on the internet is a real pain, in android you can easily zoom, with this device it is a real pain in the bum.

I will never ever touch to any windows phone... it was terrible.

My feeling is that windows rushed an OS with many functionality but didn't think much about it. There are so many missing thing, including a PROPER internet browser. Explorer is really limited and extremely far behind chrome (mobile ofc).

Other than that, I miss the possibility to switch between French and English keyboard and dictionary in a finger tap. The texting was better on the windows phone but too much is lacking to make it enjoyable. Every time I receive a text, when I check it I have to press back button, I can't go into a task menu to select the program I want to use. It is not clear which app is running or not because all you do is going back to home menu. Phone browser and apps crashed multiple time (just go back to home menu) and I think it is because the phone ran out of memory (only 1GB of ram).

I am just waiting for Sprint to get a new Windows phone! I am pretty tired of Droid. After you get past all of the apps and realize you are using a computer with only 1/10th the processing power of your computer at home, you just want to use it for browsing, phone calls, music via bt in the car, and the occasional picture. Everything else is secondary. And the fact that Windows 8.1 RT on the phone is bloatware free is +1 in my book. Samsung makes the best Droid phone for various reasons but there hasn't been anything aw inspiring when it comes to changes with Droid in a long time and all of the manufacturers load so much bloatware on their phones. I used to be into modding my phone and spend a full day loading Cyanogen on it. But there are just to many little bugs and it takes to long. I now just want something functional that isn't a flip phone. It is really great Droid is open source though. But at the end of the day, to do anything really cool to it, you need to void your warranty and root it. That being said, if it hasn't happened already, Windows will soon be rooted or have something equivalent where you can customize it too so it being closed source isn't really a huge weighing factor.

You will be disappointed. Unless a miracle happens and many great apps come to windows and solve all the issues I had, WP are useless.

The interface of Win phones really dwarfs the specs. They always feel like lowend when using them. GUI experience that is.

right the specs won't change the OS that much - the OS is already extremely fluid.

The quad core will be used primarily in processing images/video - just as it is on the 1520.

I do like that they added the Swype functionality on the keyboard. That's the one thing Android decisively has over Windows phone to me (that and more customization which is more of a double edged sword)
