Worth upgrading from a 2500k right now? - Page 3

I'm asking XSPC if this will work and I'll report back in case this ever comes up in a google search tongue.gif

Hope the Tri-X is as awesome as I think it will be! Pairing it with the EVGA Supernova G2 1000w too, nice new cables to hook up!

If it is a reference PCB should be able to add one... like this one.

Exactly the one I was looking at, and together it still comes to £20 less than the Asus card tongue.gif

Now, to deal with that awful yellow... Maybe I'll just cut some sticky back vinyl and cover it, so its not technically modified

Why the 1000w psu btw? At high oc i'd imagine 650 to be good (nowadays 450 for all gpu's below 290/780 which is a big sudden step up - when in a 4670k build, but 2500k instead of a 4670k = a bit higher power consumption too)

Superflower has golden green hx650 at £80 here - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-004-SF&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=2057

or leadex gold 650w fully modular here £90 - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-014-SF&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=2057

while evga 1000w starts at £140 on ocuk

If you dont need the extra power, those other units would be my original go-to's

Yeah I've jumped to many conclusions here, like an impulse buy!

I will have the replacement for the 4670k and a Asus motherboard, and the Tri-X added to the below sig rig. Plus a H100i if there is a way I can wedge it into the top of my TJ07 (don't think it will reach bottom compartment)

And some headroom for crossfire 290 if I decide to go 4k down the road

How much do you think I would need there?

Edit: Actually I think I'll go for the EVGA SuperNova G2 850w. Still plenty of headroom, £110 and a 10 year warranty

For 4k I'd really hold off unless you have excess cash and wait for the 2nd or 3rd release versions of 4k and aim for 2016 for GPU options.
As of right now a 4k 28" monitor is at cheapest ~$700USD and you need ~$1000 in GPU horsepower to run games at ~acceptable~ FPS.

Too new tech for me!

hold off on it, my 2500k runs along very quickly at 5GHZ. no complaints from that, i actually sold of my 290 recently and dropped to a 270X on a universal block. i dont see much difference in gameplay. BF4 doesnt even use 100% of the 270X to hold 60 frames, which kinda makes me laugh

Yeah I'm sticking with the 2500k until the next generation smile.gif

I'm planning 4k at all, but leaving myself room to consider in a year or two. Tri-X, EVGA Supernova 850W is tomorrow's order smile.gif

Sapphire just announced the 290 Vapour-X Edition of the card I ordered today wth.gif

Thinking of cancelling my order, or simply receiving it and not unboxing until I see prices
