HTC One M8 fanboys only! - Page 25

I have been using my M8 for 6 months and upgraded from Galaxy S3. It's a good device, but I somehow expected more. S3 took better pictures (more detail) in most situations and it was even more comfortable to hold in hand than M8 - it's a very close call, though . The camera lens isn't that bad yet, I can still take photos but they're even worse than when this phone was new. In the end, I don't use camera that much so it's "okay"...

Other than the (terrible) camera, it's a good phone. Not faster than my ex-S3 with CM 11, but modded Android is modded... Audio quality while using headphones is better and speakers are also better (good enough for random listening). Battery lasts about 3 days on a single charge. Screen is great. Aluminum body is nice, but I personally don't feel like it's that superior when compared to plastic Samsung's. Screen is a bit small for the phone size and I liked CM 11 better than Sense. I might sound a bit negative, but this is still the best phone I've ever had. My first HTC (Desire Z) was also a great phone.

You can have CM on the HTC One M8 as well, or GPE, or Dev, Just have to root and flash. S-Off isn't a bad idea either.

I actually thought about converting my M8 to a GPE or Developer version. Sense is good enough for using this phone without flashing anything, it's pretty much the only stock rom I can live with. smile.gif

I really liked my S3. In stock condition it wasn't that good, but with temasek's CM 11 it was as fast as M8 (that's really fast, as you know). I also loved the S-AMOLED screen for it's blacks. M8 is better than the old S3, sure.

If you like sense, there's a new sky dragon ROM on XDA that runs lollipop. It's inanely smooth, fast, and debloated. I'm running it now and it really breathes new life into the M8.

Venom Roms are also fantastic, and their lollipop version will be out soon.

Okay. smile.gif Let's see if I want to install a new rom over the official Lollipop one. Haven't got the update yet. I'd love to have more customization options, for sure. Sense doesn't have those really.

You'll really need to wait until VenomRoms releases their ViperOne Lollipop ROM for a high level of customization. As it stands, their Kitkat ROM is phenomenal. Unfortunately, Lollipop is a different beast and so LOTS of new code has to be done. As far as Sense ROMs go though, they have the most for custom options. Everything from Statusbar tweaks (icons, layout, statusbar logo), colors throughout the ROM, behavioral settings.... It's pretty insane. Look through their ROM summary here:

If you guys haven't tried the GPE conversion (RUU) for Lollipop 5.01 (currently), you should!

As much as I enjoy some of Sense, straight L is MUCH cleaner and it definitely feels more responsive. The animations seem more cohesive than ever.

I don't feel the need to replace the keyboard or the home launcher and of course that makes everything smoother.

Its the little things like being able to adjust the delay down from 300ms to 150ms for the number row.

But I thing mostly, this version of Android and its "Material Design" really...finally puts in into the ipretty category. smile.gif

Cheers!
