Do you play on:

cloth
a low sensitivity

If so, you'll suffer from minor positive acceleration that will completely throw off pinpoint sniper shots. You just will, there is no way to 100% get used to the positive acceleration of VSCEL sensors available. I thought I could on the Sensei. Man oh man was I wrong. It's still there on hard mats, but it's even worse on cloth. I'm trying to save the OP a headache and from blaming himself from missing shots when it's really the mouse sensor.

Im going to best buy in a bit, to try out (or at least look at) the m65 (because its the same basic shape as the m45) vs the rival i guess Ill have to make a decision then.

Edit: What is PTE?

Philips Twin Eye: a twin laser doppler effect sensor made by Philips. Unfortunately it is not an ideal way of tracking movement and has the downside of repositioning your cursor or aim every time you lift the mouse.

Oh ok and yes I do use cloth, I use a more medium sensitivity. One thing is I have windows acceleration on and Im used to it, I tried turning it off and found I would miss little buttons like the x button on tabs and such, will it be different with a better mouse?

Windows sensitivity doesn't care what mouse you have. What you don't want is built-in hardware acceleration on a sensor in the mouse which will always have some acceleration even if Windows' acceleration is disabled since it is inherent in the mouse itself.

I have a Perixx MX-2000 and I really like it- it works well for fps games and comes with some nice software, and only $30

Let me know when that brand puts a 3310 in one of their mice and I'll buy it. I like that brand, heard of them before and they seem to offer an awesome value with their products.

As usual with most products, the lesser-known names try extra hard to beat the big names, which ends up being not that hard in the end since the big names get lazy.

Ex: Mionix and Perixx vs. Razer, Logitech, SteelSeries

Does windows acceleration transfer into games? I like the M45, one nit picky thing is you cant change the led but honestly off is fine. its kinda looking like either the M45 or the Rival at this point.

Ah yeah. That would be why I don't notice it. I max out the sensitivity on the mouse and I play on an aluminum mat with some kind of plastic coating on each side.

It does only if the game does not have raw input enabled.

If you're in the USA, you can get the AVIOR 7000 from Amazon with Prime and they have easy returns if you don't like it.

Yeah it's more consistent at low speeds too.

It hurts me how few people have seen this graph. It is essential to understanding why you should not buy a laser mouse for serious FPS gaming.

I just went through this and had both the avior 7000 and ss rival. Avior was very nice but the rival just felt better with my hand. It's more just a personal preference.
