Here is an audio file with the microphone plugged out so its not recording any sound.

https://soundcloud.com/mattriz1/micoff

Do i have a bad sound card/motherboard or is there something else that is wrong and is there anyway to fix this?

To clarify im using the on board sound on my motherboard (P6X58D-E)

Fixed the problem.

Sound-Recording devices-properties-VoizReal Exp and selected "Noise Suppression".

Hello,

The only thing I can think of trying it right clicking your speaker icon, then selecting "recording devices" On the one that has a green check, click properties, click on the tab on tab called "listen" ......and make sure that, "listen to this device" is not checked.
