Still doings its job because it doesn't need a new battery, ever. And the phone will obviously see more daylight than a watch

a phone probably consumes 1000 times more power to run then a watch, thats not even a good comparison

Oh ok so I should just apply the theory 'its a phone, its completely different so must be pointless'

Its a device that runs on power.

your comment was insinuating that somehow the phone wont ever need to be plugged in because it has a solar panel.

like others have stated the panel is nowhere near powerful enough to keep the battery charged, it will at best slow the discharge assuming its not sitting in a pocket.

no it doesnt. Having the ability to "show off" isn’t a good thing. What are you a Peacock?

It wasn't insinuating anything at all, you are just jumping imaginary gaps to try and look impressive. No where did I say the pv panel will be powerful enough, its just a useful technology that makes sense to be there as its invisible.

My original comment was just pointing out the panel in my watch does a decent job at providing a power supply, and in theory it IS a very similar little bit of tech. Therefore, its not just a gimmick on a phone, if its invisible and works, why not implement it.

Well, to be fair that still depends on location and local "traditions" wink.gif I do come from a country where "showing off" your material crap is still pretty much a trendy thing to do, though I personally wouldn't want to use any such shiney baubles (including wristwatches, cufflinks and similar ****) because I dislike them and have no practical need for them at my current location (I don't have a problem with not being able to afford something). Of course, people who can afford such things and want to continue showing them off will most likely just customize their existing smartphone by ordering a custom body/frame (gold-plated or with a solid gold alloy, with an additional gemstones embedded into it) without sacrificing the flexibility or ability to use necessary apps.

Again, @ $7,000, you need to pay for something that the average phone doesn't have...
If it has to be a nearly extinct screen, so be it biggrin.gif

//

Meh, I don't care for the design...so 2004...
But I guess there should be 1900 ppl to get those for the kicks and then stash in a drawer or - why not - a collection behind some glass.

That phone provides little to no productivity.
