No, all keys. I use RDFG (giving me a whole whack of keys to use with my pinky), and who knows what people will or won't want to be analog. I say full keyboard or bust.

I wonder how this is going to work...I am thinking perhaps the switch will be dual-purpose, emulating gamepad anolog inputs while gaming, and normal WASD the rest of the time...perhaps with a toggle of some sort? I can't imagine how they will make normal keystrokes into an anolog signal we can do something with without resorting to gamepad emulation of some type. Also, it's not in a standard form factor, and I can't see a benefit over something like a Razer Orbweaver or the like. And just noticed that is basically how it is going to work...through gamepad emulation.

It was a dream of mine to create a pressure sensitive keyboard back in high school. The idea came to fruition when I was playing the PC port of GTA. It was awesome having the mouse to aim, but driving with the kerboard totally sucked because the 100% or 0% steering was too sensitive.

Unfortunately, the Orbweaver and its predecessor basically have an 8 way D pad. If they'd used a true analog stick, they would've had a winner on their hands.

I love the idea. But I want analog key options in a standard 103key unit.

This got me wondering if the key could be pulsed at high frequency based on how far down it is (like PWM). No software or hacks needed if this is the case. It depends on the actual poll rate of USB or PS/2 though. This would give the illusion of analog input

Cost. It would only make sense to inflate price on this feature for gaming keyboards. Other applications wouldn't use or need it.

There is a reasonable question as to why game pads haven't done this before though. Probably the lack of compatibility, though I'm guessing they've done the driver work already to make the keyboard pretend it's an analog stick.

Also, there is very likely a software issue trying to use this to type with. I wouldn't be surprised if the AimPad eats the WASD keys so you can't actually type on them (otherwise the game would move you at full speed again on key down; alternatively it would require unbinding WASD move keys). You could solve that by having a gaming and typing mode, but you'd have to toggle it every time you want to use chat functions.

This still isn't going to give us the freedom/range of movement that an analog stick has though...I really think this needs some improvement before it will serve any real purpose. If Razer would just make the Orbweaver's "anolog" stick actually anolog...for years I have thought about combing a keypad+360 pad, but figured someone would have done so by now and saved me the trouble.

Because a keyboard is primarily used for typing, I am not sure how typing would feel on an Analog keyboard...
