I'd be shocked if another liquid cooling company didn't sign on with Nidec Servo to distribute them, we just need to wait and see.

I'm highly doubtful in that, they have their Swiftech Helix fans, which is essentially their solution to GTs. There's no reason they would discontinue their own fans they produce in house in order to order someone else's fan to redistribute them. More than likely it would be XSPC, or another company that doesn't have their own high end fan.

All the more reasons for Swiftech to get that deal.
If GT's are a direct competitor to their helix, nothing snufs out the competition better than buying it outright.

They would likely make more money with their helix fans. Switching from Helix to GTs means cutting all their in house production of their own fans, paying for shipping of someone else's fans, marking up the prices to make a profit, and selling them to resellers. A recent group buy for the GT AP-45s had them at $13 if I remember correctly. That was directly from Nidec Servo, so let's assume swiftech could get them for $8 a fan. Then we add $4 per fan so they can make a profit. Then we factor in shipping to to their warehouses, then from their warehouses to all the resellers, let's say 50cents per fan as bulk freight shipping isn't much for such small items per unit. Now we're looking at around $20 MSRP with a somewhat limited profit margin. Swiftech's current price for their helix is around $10 MSRP so direct buy is around $5, so production from them would be very cheap. Swiftech doesn't care about how much money their competition is getting as long as their income is sufficient, cutting their own production of their fan to sell a different one may very well decrease their profit. They have all their money already spent on facilities to produce their own fans. They'd have to scrub all that investment.

This brings me back to my point: More than likely it will be a company who doesn't have their own high end fan like XSPC, Aquacomputer, HW Labs, or someone like that. (EK has their own high end fan in the works from what I understand.)

I feel like a group buy should be setup some how. Ideally enough to sell on amazon for like ~23 ish and so you sell enough to keep a bunch for yourself for free biggrin.gif

I thought quite often that this would be a good idea - maybe it's something for Kickstarter or Indiegogo - a new company specialising in the best available watercooling fans and making them available to the consumer. I'm bored of the standard spec fans built purely for profit - hence why my top three fans are:
1. San Ace 120 Low Speed
2. Gentle Typhoon AP14
3. XSPC Xinruilian 1200

Just don't count on an OCN sonsored group buy.
Last one was a disaster, an epic fail. And OCN won't touch an other one with a 10 ft pole.
And yes, that group buy was for the Gentle Typhoon fan AP-45 2150 rpm.

you think swiftech "makes" the helix fans or buys them from another company that makes them?

id bet they do the same thing that scythe did with nidec, they could just switch and get everyone to buy their fans.

own both fans, sell both, cheaper and more expensive models, then you get both the people that want the best and the people that want the best bang for buck.

and i wouldnt really call the helix "high end" its like 12$ a fan.
