[PCGamer] GameSpy multiplayer service shutting down next month - Page 3

Wow! I remember running the original Halo through Gamespy. RIP Gamespy. You were a pioneer!

EA should start issuing refunds or at least Origin credit.

Wow I'm surprised someone like Nintendo doesnt acquire Gamespy just to continue supporting those games. I just hope these services going offline is a big message to developers that they need to build more flexibility/redundancy into their multiplayer setup. Games that are dependent on a master server, should have a simple way to redirect where the game looks for the list.

Why? It's not their fault that gamespy went down and I doubt they even knew it was going down.

With no knowledge that gamespy would go down. If you just bought the game within this week then I think you deserve a refund. Other than that it would just be your loss.

I don't care actually. I don't have many games with gamespy that I play online. ARMA II OA and Crysis/Crysis Warhead/Crysyis Wars. But online I only played Arma II/ ArmaII OA. Looks like I will have to use lan again.

Hmmmm.... I'll always remember their logo. Everytime that window would popup when installing games asking me if I wanted to install their program. For FREE! lol

Next gaming industry service to shut down: Xfire

Anybody remember that? What am I saying of course everyone remembers Xfire!

Wait, what is this...

GameSpy Login Emulator

People have been working on emulating GS for ovr two years now in anticipation of GS's goodbye.

Now we can migrate individual games to their own log in and game browser servers, instead of hundreds of games under a virtual host.
