[Build Log] Who's a Fanboy?

Thread Starter
I have had a previous build log, but now that I am going to be changing everything around again, I thought I'd go ahead, and start a new one.

Okay, so here it goes. In light of the recent competition and my need to clean out my loop, I thought I'd change the tubing, fans, add a fan controller, pain the case, etc etc.

Today, I bought 8 SP120 PE's, UV Atomic Green tubing, 4 UV blue Cold Cathode lighting, extensions for said lighting, and lightdims original to get the bright LEDs on my X79 dimmer. Obviously I don't want them to stand out.

Here are pics of my current set up.

My previous build log is here if you would like to see how I got to this point, but please don't comment on it.

Now to the name. Well, even though I'm not truly a fan boy of Intel and Nvidia (AMD does make good parts, also), I am going to be painting my case Nvidia green and accent it with Intel blue. The tubing will be UV green with UV blue to accent it and make its stand out. I will be painting the accents on my motherboard that are current red and make them blue with heat transferring caliper paint as to not damage the parts. and still fit the color scheme.

This log will be complete quite quickly considering it isn't a full system build and I want to enter the Corsair contest!

So which case is it gonna be? Are you redoing the 540?

Just re-doing the 540. I'll be adding little things over time such as a proper drain port and fill port, but for now, I just want to get ready for the Corsair competition (GPU tuning, CPU Tuning, and Case show-off)

I forgot to add that I also bought the Bitfenix Recon 5, because it'll be fine for what I'm doing. After I see that it's not going to blow up on me, I'll be hacking up my case to integrated it.

Sweet. Lookin forward to it brotha.

I don't know much about the Recon other than the fact that you can control it with your phone, which is a pretty cool feature.

subbed. I'm excited to see how this turns out since my ongoing project revolves around Nvidia green/black/grey/carbon fiber.

Small update! Here are some potato pictures of what I've done for the back io. It originally said X79 dark but in red... I had planned on just repainting it to cover up the red and still say that, but after getting frustrated with an xacto knife and not being able to get it perfect. I did this instead.

The tubing will be here monday, and I believe everything else will be here Tuesday. Once it gets here on tuesday, I plan on taking everything out of the case and cleaning it. I'm hoping to convince my wife to let me make a radiator flushing station, but that's highly unlikely considering the amount of money I've spent in just the past week. Hot water + lots of shaking will have to do.

A flushing setup really doesn't cost much. Especially if you already have some extra wc stuff handy (tubing, barbs).

That's pretty much everything you could possibly need except tubing and fittings for your rads/blocks

Oh, I know it's not expensive, but the 500 I spent was 500 too much. tongue.gif

Trying to do what I can while I wait for parts to come in. I just spray painted the top mesh. I wanted to do it outside because of the fumes, but it started raining, so I set up a make shift way of doing in my office floor. Thankfully, I've got big windows and I can let the fumes out. biggrin.gif

Well crap, I forgot to take my camera off of raw only, so I'll have the shots up in a bit once I have converted them. Derp.

EDIT: Pictures! Not that great, had to shoot quickly and only with overhead lighting, so only slightly less potato than previous pictures.

My two "helpers" They rarely help, but they sure are curious....

My makeshift set up! biggrin.gif Surprisingly, it worked quite well. I'm pleasantly surprised. I was just too excited not to try out this spray paint on the grills.

After spray painting. I'll upload more pictures tomorrow and make it easier on myself and remember to switch my camera to jpeg + raw so I can edit if I want to.

I'm also going to be testing out the green on an Antec 900 that a friend gave me and see if it dries the color I want. *crosses fingers*
