You know what? At least NVIDIA is consistent. Titan is a luxury product branding and 780 approximately reflects real costs and fear of AMD competition to cover their bases in case the Titan branding failed.

AMD what do they do? They overprice their "cheap" branding too now.

Unless the real costs will reflect it as well on a dual 780, which is possible but I doubt it. Chances are they can drop to something like $800 without problem. Or max 1000, ok.

Seems hard? I thought the ATX2.3 spec for 8-pins was 150W?
And PCIe can only give 75W according to spec...

So that would be: 2x 150W + 75W = 375W?
IF AMD stays within spec of course...

I'd love to break some boards and PSU's and see AMD pay the repair bills ^_^

Am I missing something?
Problay higher binned chips(lowered Vcore). Just like with hd6990. Typical hd6970 won't reach 1ghz core(most of them could reach 950-970mhz max) but hd6990 could achieve it on pretty low Vcore.
And remeber that those 2 chips are running one one board. This means lowered power consumption. Again Hd6990 is a perfect example(consuming less power than 2x6970 in crossfire).

Are you serious? At least Nvidia is consistent in being expensive? LOL.... please pull the blinders off and stop bashing AMD.

OT:

I'm content with 290x at 1150 core and 1600 mem - however if these drop in prices down the road I wouldn't mind doing a tri-fire setup

Pricing's getting ridiculous. I was happy paying $700 for a dual GPU powerhouse two gens ago, but now AMD want more than double that.

Has the cost of manufacturing silicon really gone up that much, or are AMD and Nvidia now trying to get every cent they can out of us?
i'm not here to defend anybody but titans aren't for gaming/mining only, look at 780 ti and titan black different price for different purposes (but still a little overpriced)

anyway thhe dualgpu thing should be target for low consumption in a small package. whats the difference between this and crossf?

Or you could just buy 4 290x's at a cheaper price and get better performance...

You guess your knowledge of video cards is limited.....

290X cannot do 144Hz X 5 monitors. Max it can do is 100Hz... I know I have the setup.

and 4 290X's cannot fit in my computer..... Z87 Sabertooth motherboard
