Having personally seen it on 360 games it doesn't seem to make a massive difference other than curbing some of the overwhelming jaggedness.

To be quite honest, you have to look real hard to see the differences in those two comparison screenshots. Ryse looked incredible when I played it. Have no complaints about it's graphics regardless of it's native resolution. One of the best looking games out currently right next to Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition.

Please, stop making 720p games. I rather play at 1080p 30 fps, than at 720p 60 fps. Please!

What are you talking about? The 900p screenshot clearly looks better. Someone forgot to apply AA to the 1080p screenshot, there are a ton of jaggies.

Killzone Shadow Fall uses a 960x1080 framebuffer with a horizontal interlace in the MP for a full HD output and it looks amazing for how low the internal resolution is.

They have the opposite function though. This game offers an unlocked framerate at 1080p, which might dip, and a 720p option for a more stable 60 FPS.
Killzone and Infamous offer an unlocked framerate at 1080p, which might dip, and a 30 FPS cap which ensures consistency and minimizes judder.

You could say that all three games have an option for consistency, but there's a huge difference between offering a higher framerate for consistency and offering a lower framerate for the same thing. You could definitely argue for a 30 FPS cap in FF at 1080p which would eliminate the framerate variations, providing a more consistent experience, but that wouldn't really be the same experience as 720p 60 FPS.

Can't comment on games I haven't played.

Both images have their fair share of jaggies if you look hard enough for them. But here's the thing. You have to look for them, on a static (downsized) screenshot, not during actual gameplay in a home environment where most people wouldn't even notice the difference. You have to sit down and scrutinise the image up close side by side to find it's faults. Who the hell cares when they're sat down from 6 feet away enjoying the game?

Honest answer? No one!

Sure, if you're using a 32" 720p TV at a distance of 2 meters with default settings (why is the sharpness so high by default?).

Shimmering and crawling is easily noticeable in a 1080p image on a big TV with proper settings and those phenomenons are only visible in motion.

Yep, get your eyes checked or trolling or X1 fanboy? One of the three...gotta be.

Easily noticeable?

Maybe, though in all honesty I don't find it an issue that is all that disengaging on a 60" 1080p TV from 6 feet away.

A deal breaker? Game breaking? A huge massive difference? Something for rabid fanboys to cry about?

No. Definitely not.

People act like the earth is going to open up and swallow them whole over a technical issue that really is so minor. Sometimes I wish it would, lol.

Neither of the three, but nice try kiddo. Come back when you can have a sensible conversation without trying to insult people.

What I don't understand is, why at such an early stage are sacrifices having to be made?

Also when I moved from my old 23" 720p TV to a Full HD 23", I was gob smacked by the difference in clarity, same with DVD to Bluray, and the same with 1080p to 1440p that I have now..personally I can tell the difference, and many members of my family and friends have commented on the improvements...

Because the hardware in consoles is just not good enough to keep up with the rate that PC hardware development has been/is being developed.

I agree that it's not a deal breaker, it's just annoying. I usually play PC games at 2560x1440 with some level of SSAA and it's so smooooooth. I don't have a good TV at the moment anyway, I'm using my PC monitor so the upscaling blurs the image slightly. Overall, I really enjoy the games I have so far. Infamous SS looks amazing, the particle effects are extremely cool, my copy is in the mail. I have to wonder why we don't see particle effects like those in KZ and I:SS on PC, it seems like such a wasted opportunity considering the horsepower that's available. We've been seeing them for years in tech demos like Unreal Engine, but not really in games.
