The 25UM65 panel has true 8-bit color.

The 25UM65 is "FlickerSafe".
It means that brightness adjustment does not cause discomfort.

The Acer should also be flicker free since the 23" version is. The LG is much smaller than the Acer and has a grainy matte coating while the Acer uses a clear, vibrancy enhancing glossy coating which is reflective.

Acer S276HL Digital Versus Review

The Samsung S27D590P is really good according to Playerwares Review (Use Google or Chrome to translate) and is better than all of the matte 1080p IPS panels, most of which use LED PWM Dimming/are not flicker free.

Yes, panels format is very different.
The 25'' 21:9 has very small pixel pitch (0.228).
The 27'' 16:9 (full-HD) has big pixel pitch (0.3).

However PWM flickering is not a costant for IPS monitors.
Since BenQ, Eizo (EV series), Dell (P/U series) and others are making flicker-free IPS monitors.

This year LG will renew its entire line of monitors.
Many of which are IPS and "FlickerSafe" (TUV certified).

This also means that other manufacturers will be forced to follow...
