So I got my processor already and the PSU and Mobo are on the way.If I set my rig without the GPU,will I have to reinstall the OS to make everything run smoothly? And The rig I'm mentioning is in my sig.The GPU is undecided.

I would only reinstall on a motherboard change/upgrade. It would be a "format & start over" kind of thing. Of course, you do want to save everything that you can.

Yeah, that never requires a reinstall of the OS. The motherboard is the only thing that does - unless, of course, you're replacing your OS drive! hahaha

Also dont forget to do a format and reinstallation of windows every 2 years or so.. I just find they get bloated and finicky after long periods of time, odd errors crop up and it never runs quite as quick as it did when it was fresh.. not pertinant to your situation just a tip smile.gif

I don't know if I can agree with that because I had the same installation of Windows 7 for close to 3 years without any noticeable slowing down. I'd still have the same installation, but I upgraded to a new drive and I wanted to start fresh instead of using a clone or something.

kudos to you then man.. all I know is that with my rig and alot of others.. the 2 year mark seems to be when things start getting strange... one too many crashes or too much installing and removing of things.. just doesnt run quite like a fresh install no more.

After giving it some thought just now, I think that it's because I haven't had Windows on a mechanical drive since at least August or early September of 2009. So, perhaps it's just that I'm not noticing it anymore due to the speed. I mean, the only other thing that I can think of is the stability of the computer. Instability can certainly cause the problem that you're describing. However, I'm more inclined to say that it's just because I have solid state drives now. I mean, I do remember back when I had Windows on a mechanical drive that I would feel like formatting and starting over maybe once every 6 months or once every couple of years at least.
