I need your advice/help regarding an i5 660 "quick and dirty" OC

Thread Starter
I hope i posted in the right forum section for start.
Forgive any misuse of Engl. language plz smile.gif

Long story (kinda) short

Until yesterday i had a Q6600 (2.4) and because of very low FPS in our favorite game ARMA3 a friend has gifted me
his older system..an i5 660 (3.33)with a P7 P55-M ASUS mobo plus 12gigs of 1333 RAM
*added*
My GPU is HD 7870 (2048mb)

I should confess i didn't knew the exact CPU's model (neither the benchmarks) until i 'v set up my new system.
Sadly..i realized i haven't gained any noticeable FPS boost.
Still obliged to my friends gift..i should find a viable solution without further HW upgrades.(money are pain in the...)

Searching around i haven't found any solid guide to OC my i5 with this mobo.
I really hope i can reach a 3.7-3.8 at least with his stock air cooling..
as *some more raw CPU power is the only way to squeeze *some more frames
to keep me on game.
Any good fella who can help me? smile.gif

If your graphics card was the reason that your fps was low, then changing cpu wouldn't make much of a difference

Yea, what GPU is it? Arma 3 can be highly cpu bound in cases, but if gpu is too weak, maybe that's limiting performance

Have you reinstalled windows, when you swapped out motherboards?

Do you have the most up to date drivers?
