Windows 7 will not enter sleep mode

So for the past several days now, Windows (7) will not enter sleep mode. I have nothing running in the background that would be keeping it awake. The monitor will go to sleep, but the system will not. I'm completely stumped

Edit: So, after restarting Windows and trying again, the computer went to sleep just fine. Any idea what may be causing this?

Overclocking can cause the Sleep function glitch as it effects the CPU power state but form what I'v seen its usually that the PC won't come out of sleep rather then the other way around.

My guess would be that your computer was doing something. You say you had nothing running in the background but there might have been something you missed like an update running in the background or something along thous lines.

Yeah there must have been some sort of process running in the background. Once I restarted my system everything worked fine
