Thread Starter
hey guys I bought a used powercolor r9 290 off of ebay and i have had problems with it crashing andrunning with 2 monitors. The seller of course said he never had any problems with it. He is willing to send me a copy of the reciept. Is the reciept and serial off of the card enought to send it in for a RMA?
thanks
mack

I do believe powercolor warranty starts on invoice date. I am not sure if they will have a problem returning the card to an address other than whats on invoice though.

Generally not the case but I never buy powercolor.

ya I looked at the warranty and it says the original owner. So im wondering if I have the seller request the Rma and have it shipped from my house and he can specify to send it to my address?

I really am not sure how that would go, I have never had to RMA a card I purchased second hand, I have always tested my products extremely thoroughly before deciding to keep it.

If a card were to fail my overnight testing, I am not keeping it. TBH I personally would have just requested a refund and went on to find a better card.

I would however liek to point out that there were some issues with moving from most any given card to the new r7/r9 series. I do suggest you try a diver cleaning, and even a fresh windows install before you end up with the same card back because its fine, or another card that behaves the same way.

Haha, "no refunds" does not cover receiving faulty products.

Are you running the very newest Beta drivers or are you running the latest stable release? I don't know how much the drivers differ between the 280x and the 290 but I know for my card (the 280x) that the Beta has caused some crashing issues for some people. If that's the case with you, I'd maybe try using driver sweeper and deleting your display driver completely as if you were uninstalling the card and putting in a new one. Then install the stable release and see how it works for you.
