ITX build for Pops.

Hey all. This is for my Dad. He was thinking about getting an aio then decided he would rather keep his monitor and keyboard/mouse. He doesnt want to go crazy but hes into different hobbies himself and wants to get a decent little computer.

He does internet for real estate and some photos and youtube and such. I would say this setup is as bit overkill for what he needs but he can write it off. Would it be at all beneficial to throw in a cheap video card?

We both really like the case and he really only needs a 240 gb ssd. Wifi mobo and already have win 7. No real budget but more than willing to save some money where we can.

If he don't play games then there's no need for a GPU.

The Seidon 120V is not needed, the stock cooler works just fine.

As for the mobo, Z87 is not nessesary since the CPU is locked.

Why not throw in a Bluray DVD combo drive?

Everything else seems fine.

Thanks.

The cooler isn't needed but he wants it.

Reason for the mobo is the wifi and it seems pretty solid.

Actualy maybe I will upgrade and get a bluray.

I'll link you this, even if you don't plan on overclocking it(Great deal on a i5 period). Would go well with that z87 motherboard thought.

That's a i5-4670K for $190, today only.

http://www.overclock.net/t/1479817/amazon-intel-i5-4670k-189-99

or

http://www.amazon.com/Intel-i5-4670K-Quad-Core-Desktop-Processor/dp/B00CO8TBOW/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1396855872&sr=1-1&keywords=4670k

He would also likely benefit from a decent GPU like this

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131564

Could go a bit cheaper on the GPU, but it seems like even the GPUs 2 steps down from that one is within $20 of this one.

This would also do.

this Gigabyte MoBo is cheaper and works just fine: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128626 I've used it in several builds. Stick with the i3 CPU and don't waste any money on a GPU. I built a new workstation for my wife as well as three HTPCs running Intel HD graphics and that's all you need. I agree with others you don't need to waste money on a CPU cooler; I'm running all of the preceding builds off the stock cooler and it's hardly audible.

i would probably get an i5 instead an i3, and just put a stock cooler on it. i dont think there is any benefit for spending for an AIO cooler besides bling, and also cant really see it that much inside a 250D, plus there is the chance to leak.. I also think its better to skip on an AIO cooler and dump the monies on an i5 processor instead. I actually prefer a Pentium over an i3 (and the i5) as well, since the pc is just for basic use and can give you great savings as well..

i would also skip on that evga PSU, and get a better psu for $20 more like a Roswill Capstone 450w. a crucial m500 should be a great budget SSD for your needs. I would recommend a different itx case but reading that you guys like the 250D, so its all good.

there is a gigabyte B85 itx board that has wifi, you might want to look into that. good placement as well.

Disagree on the i5, and the rosewill.
Just stick with the i3, get a cheaper h81/87 mobo, stick a wife adapt or USB wifi.
And get a $20 cx corsair psu.
Since u don't have to oc that pc, these are more than enough. And you'll save $100 at the least.

the i3 is no better than the Pentium for basic use, so i disagree with the i3 as well smile.gif

the $70 difference is pretty much not worth it

Doesn't the pentium have 1 core and i3 have 2 cores with hyperthreading?. I think the 2core w/hyperthreading will help a lot with his use on multi tabs and such
