Am I the only one daydreaming about grabbing an 8 core haswell e and an asus x99 ws board and like 4 of these ? and over clocking what ever you can out of it and using a ramdisk for the os?

I'm in it for the RamDisk alone.

For average users sure but After effects users for example would be all over it. They don't need ECC, only a crap ton of memory. Really with AE and the like there is no such thing as to much ram.

I'm not sure what's scarier, the fact that there are 128GB RAM sticks or that there are normal people who'd benefit from lots of them.

Well, realistically, the biggest gains would probably be for video editors. They have those huge uncompressed (or lightly compressed) high resolution files that keep scanning back and forth and back and forth for snippets to use. They really are insane in memory needs.

There are some web serving needs, but I doubt they are as robust.

It would need something intense at this point in time to be felt.
