You're right on many of the things you say but quantity and even quality of voice acting has nothing to do with how well written the game was.

A Game is considered good if it can not only pull you in, but keep you pulled in the entire time. With good game mechanics and great visuals. Could the Story in Tomb Raider been improved, Yes as it really wasn't the best story. Just the way the entire game was executed tied it all up pretty well.

I had a better time Playing Tomb Raider then I ever did playing DA:O or even most of the other newer games.

I also Really liked BioShock, it really is a fun shooter if you can put your mind into that type of game play.

DAO is exactly what you'd call a stellar game. It's a highly ambitious and complex RPG with top notch character development, writing and story. It has very little flaws while being one of the largest games in terms of scale and content(450~ hours and there are still several smaller quests I've not done and things I haven't found). It seems like it may have been a little too hard for you, it seems DA:O often goes over peoples heads due to it being a more traditional RPG but regardless it fits the bill of not only a stellar game, but the best game ever created.

Having an easier time playing something doesn't make it better. Tomb Raider is a casual action game, that's why you had an easier time playing it. DAO on the other hand was designed for gamers who enjoy using their heads, having to use tactics and strategy to defeat difficult enemies and understand the complex story it tells.

I never said The Last of Us doesn't have character development lol. Definitely not the best character development in the world though, and character development is primarily what The Last of Us relies on. I do agree that voice acting is very important, but more important than the writing itself... not for me.

It doesn't concern me what a lot of people say about The Last of Us. A lot of people, most of them, don't think for themselves and just say what others say. Most gamers aren't nearly as picky or critical as I am, most of them have the attention span of a flea, most of them are just dazzled by the cinematics and don't take into account everything else about the game when claiming it's masterfully crafted. Most movies are crap too, just like the majority of games are, so that statement doesn't have much weight to it.

I could have cared less if it was a plumber wondering around. It kept you engaged, unless you simply don't enjoy those types of games. Then you're just being biased. If you think the fact your playing as a girl has anything to do with this then lol on you. If you are a person that really didn't enjoy games like uncharted or last of us then this game probably wasn't for you anyways.

Personally I also liked FarCry3, I thought it was pretty entertaining the entire way through. Not the best story that is for sure, but the entire game kept me playing. I also see a lot of hate for that game as well

The writing is only one aspect of the story. How that writing is given to the player is the other aspect of the story. Hence acting is very vital to the story of a game.

I don't think you actually know what you're trying to say.

If you mean acting as in Voice Acting then no, it's not important to the story at all. Planescape Torment has no voice acting and most that have played it will agree it's one of the best stories and has hands down the best writing.

I understand Writing is one aspect of the game but that's the only thing he initially stated, that those games had good writing, and I asked him how, and he could only say they had good voice acting or a lot of voice acting....which has nothing to do with the quality of writing in a game.

Voice Acting can definitely improve a game I agree. I prefer my games to be voiced but it doesn't improve the story, it simply improves the game as a whole.

Just about everyone loved Far Cry 3 so don't worry, you're not alone there. You're correct that there's correlation between Tomb Raider and those Naughty Dog games, they all use the same game design formula I mentioned above.

Only if the game relies heavily on acting to deliver the story. Not all do, Planescape: Torment is mostly unvoiced so it has very little acting. Anna: Extended Edition tells an intriguing story without heavily relying on acting. The Uncharted games are strong in the acting department, but not noteworthy in the writing department, and they don't have the most ambitious storytelling methods either (straightforward film-like delivery), so I'll forever disagree with their praise.

DAO is exactly what you'd call a stellar game. It's a highly ambitious and complex RPG with top notch character development, writing and story. It has very little flaws while being one of the largest games in terms of scale and content(450~ hours and there are still several smaller quests I've not done and things I haven't found).

Wow. Mr. Delusional.

Yeah I liked DA:O, didn't say I didn't. It wasn't good. It had good Gameplay and a good story line to it. Even though IMO was a little cheesy at time but I was never a big medieval era type of guy so maybe why.

Also Tomb Raider has a Hard Mode you know. It is also a entirely a different type of game. It has nothing to do with brain activity, if anything you are toning your reflexes while playing tomb raider. As you need to tone your shooting skills. Though IDK you could be someone that plays games on easy because they are not vary good with the mouse? Or maybe you just only like RPGs.
