Rosewill SL-300TFX handle a 8320?

Thread Starter
I am looking to upgrade my wife's office system.

It currently has a GIGABYTE GA-MA785GM-US2H motherboard with a PII B93 and 6 G DDR2, and it also has a 6450 GPU, one hard drive and a CD/DVD.

I would be replacing the mobo/cpu/memory with a GA-78LMT-USB3, Fx-8320 and 8G (2 x 4G) DDR3.

Everything will remain at stock settings.

My concern is the 300W TFX Rosewill power supply that came with the case. I know its not the greatest. It only has a 4-pin motherboard 12V connector. Is that going to cause an issue with a 125W processor like a 8320?

Thanks

It would probably be okay, but it looks like one of those junker Solytech / Deer units that gave Rosewill the Rosekill reputation. If you're mucking around and replacing stuff in the system, I'd get rid of the power supply while you're at it. e.g. try this Seasonic SS-300TGW:

That said, some boards are fussy about having all 8 pins actually connected, so if it doesn't work you may want to try a 4 pin ATX12V to 8 pin EPS12V adapter. The actual power draw through the 4 wires is probably okay unless you actually overclock the thing a decent amount. Maybe you should ask Gigabyte, if you really want to know for sure without trying yourself.
