Did I brick my r9 290 tri-x?

I'm kinda worried. Yesterday I was overclocking for the first time(msi AB and 14.3) and I was overclocking with small steps of 10 mhz as recommended, I reached on the memory clock 1500 mhz without touching the voltages. I thought that something wasn't right (I had no artifacts or something) so I restarted the computer. When the computer was restarted I started overclocking again, I put it directly on 1500 and boom! black screen and restart. Everything was back at stock after the restart.

So what now? I already stress tested with furmark if anything is happening, but it all seems normal again.
I only got this on a web page: http://snag.gy/hroO1.jpg , white squares on the screen, could it be the gpu?

Have you made an attempt to do a clean driver install? Use this to remove all traces of drivers and reinstall your drivers and report back.

uninstall AB and see if your issue goes away. if not AND if you are not using mantle, i would suggest reverting back to 13.12 WHQL.

if you want to oc using just one card, i also suggest using Trixx.

edit: just noticed you are using FF. read post #2 of this thread . . .

http://www.overclock.net/t/1265543/the-amd-how-to-thread

does it happen with other browsers, too?

14 drivers are not oc'ing friendly. it will make your card throttle. definitely use 13.12.

Flip your bios switch to other and see if you experience it. If you experience same, then RMA.

I experience this alot of times when I OC my cards. and even I restart, clocks were not in default. So what I do, when I reach to that point, I switch to other vbios. Boot it. Then MSI AB set the clock back. Shut down computer, switch back to the other vbios, then voila, it is working again smile.gifthumb.gif

Deleted msi AB, installed trixx. Well the white squares don't appear anymore in FF and chrome, so I don't know if its only because of FF tongue.gif.

afaik, FF does it to both green and red. hope it does not reappear.

btw, i've been saying this in other threads, my HDDs are imaged except one has 13.11 and the other 14.3. the former i use for oc'ing, the latter for mantle and BF4. i play BF4 with my i7 at stock and HT off. have to oc the i7 to 4.5 for BF3 and 13.11 works best.

the main reason, though, why i imaged them is 'cause my rig is part time work rig.

Is there a reason why Trixx won't allow the fan speed go faster than 50%, only in furmark?

EDIT: not only in furmark, also in games.

can't tell 'cause mine has a block. only to 50 when in auto or you can't manually set it higher than 50%?
