I just remembered the lack of competition in the US when it comes to ISPs. I guess most of the US would just have to wait until Google comes to their town.

Yes, because in most places in the US there is only 1 name to choose from. And in the case where there are 2, its picking the less of 2 horrible evils. Time warner, Comcast, Medicom, ATT. Take your pick. None of these will leave you with a good experience. Google fiber? Guess Ill be waiting 5-10 years for that...Because paying $60/month for 18/2mb/s is horrible enough, but when you actually get 10/.5 on a good day with 500 ping, there may be some rage involved.

but netflix still doesnt stream Blu-ray quality HD, which is what they should tackle first.

Exactly.

I'd rather be able to stream full Blu-ray quality 1080p video and audio than mediocre 4K with crappy sound.

Totally agree with this. The main thing I miss with streaming is the lossless audio that you get from blu-ray.

I guess it's much better marketing to say "we have 4K" than it is to say "we have good 1080p".

True. It's all marketing numbers. I was talking to a coworker when Netflix first started steaming 1080p and he was thinking it was the same as blu ray quality because they said "1080p".

This is why I still highly prefer physical media.

Is a never attainable dream for me. 2014 USA and I can't top 6mb connection out here. Corruption and monopolies at their finest. Guess I can't complain to much seeing how I don't have any caps.... yet.
