Ambient temps are still high as it is summer and it gets realyl hot here, 42c during the day. Will my mobo hold an overclocked FX 8350?

Click the name of your mobo in your sig, it will take you to the product page here on OCN.

Then take a look at the CONS. "NB gets hot with even the slightest overclock"

Not sure if that's just one persons issue or not with your mobo.

That's true the NB does heat up. Does that hinder overclocking???

Well if the NB temps are within reason under load (for your mobo, not sure what the max is for it) then your okay. The temps of the NB can dictate how much you can safely OC. So just keep that in mind. I think some cheaper boards max out around 80c and more expensive ones around 100c. Not too sure but I think it's something around there.

EDIT: You can use HWmonitor to check the temps of the NB under load btw.

The NB will labeled as TMPIN2

I would advise against that. Quite frankly ypu are lucky pushing that FX-6300 like you do.

For some reason I know that you are going to try it anyway tongue.gif

Yeah it is. At 4.4Ghz during p95 in the summer it never exceeds 76c at the very max. It's mostly at 70c during p95 and 63c during BF4 which uses my CPU at 90% and more.

I got a better motherboard, well better than a Asrock n68c gs fx...lol

Since I have a 970A g43 now I will see If I can get a 1ghz overclock on my ole' 910. ( 2.6 GHz to 3.6GHz )
The MB will go up to 2.2 V although I know its not safe at all.

I also noticed when getting this MB, I can get the same overclock I did on the old MB with lower voltages???????

Where are you finding 1090t's for $75 or less? I have a couple of friends who would be very interested in those...

IMO as an FX-8350 owner, I think that the 8350 is a good and worthwhile upgrade from any PII X4 - if you actually have a use for the cores. For those who already have a 1090T or 1100T I agree... the FX-8350 isn't a big enough jump to be worthwhile.

The primary game I play actually does use all 8 cores. And I also do rendering, transcoding, and compiling, all of which benefit from the 8 core design.

That said, I'm sure that your X4 @ 4ghz poses no bottleneck to your 7850 at all, and if your main use is gaming, there's no point in upgrading your CPU unless you also upgrade your vidcard. Enjoy.
