These two things are the secrets to Bruce Lee's power. There are methods that teach how to strike using the mass of the earth, something impossible to do when one is only striking with the shoulders, as is pretty common in MMA.
I don't have to tell the entire mixed martial arts community they're wrong. If they hold your position, I have thousands of years of history and millions of "black belts" over that time disagreeing with them.
The heavier guy is almost always slower, and there is a breakpoint where speed exceeds mass. That breakpoint is well below MMA weight class levels.
Doesn't force=mass×acceleration? Not mass*velocity*velocity.....

I understand that self defense and martial arts prepare you for multiple attackers. But generally its multiple untrained attackers or bigger untrained attackers. Do you HONESTLY believe that 2 people with equal skill sets, one weighing in at 170 pounds the other weighing in at 230 pounds (lean, not some fatty,) would be an equal fight since their skillset is the same? I sincerely hope that the people you train with don't believe this. I can understand if the lighter guy is a better fighter... a MUCH better fighter. But otherwise there will be no competition.

You are correct. MMA fighters don't punch the way boxers do, though.

Heavier guys will beat the snot out of lighter guys wrestling most of the time, and will have more K.O. power...the first MMA tournaments had basically no rules and you did see huge guys fighting smaller ones, that was pretty insane back in the early 90s. Yes and no. Most self defense arts teach brutal beating as opposed to wrestling in groundfighting, because wrestling in general takes too much time and energy in a self defense fight. As far as KO power, physics doesn't lie. The fast punch knocks out better than the strong punch every single time. It produces more foot pounds of force, it causes more rapid acceleration inside the body of the opponent in creasing trauma, it brings you back to defensive guard faster, allowing for more powerful and accurate follow up punches.
Knocking people unconscious is a parlor trick really. As long as you know where and how to hit, someone skinnier than Bruce Lee could knock out Andre the Giant (assuming he got on his knees so the attacker could hit his head or the attacker collapsed the knee, cutting the tree down to size). The spot is known as "The Glass Jaw", and is roughly located right in front of the bulk of the masseter. This is the safest place on the human body to hit somebody in the head, and even using a baseball bat or car to remove the jaw at that location will normally result in insufficient bleeding to kill the victim.
Physics, anatomy and physiology, and martial arts all agree that speed beats power. The handful of truly powerful and fast people on the planet (like the aforementioned Bolo Yeung) are the exceptions that prove the rule, and have to train to keep their speed and flexibility.

If knocking people out is a parlor trick why doesnt everyone just learm this parlor trick and win every fight they'r in?

I think you're over skmplifying things and talking to too many high ranked martial artists who think they're better than everyone else and feel they can critique everyone else... I've run into quite a few of them and its been a while since I've trained in anything.

Because at that point, your methods of winning are legion. As easy as it is to KO someone, it is easier to coopt the momentum of a strike and use it to throw the attacker into a brick wall, dumpster, pile of broken glass, or tree. At a certain point, Yin techniques trump Yang techniques.

Age (late 30s) and a family who would cry to see the damage done to my body. Honestly, that's all that holds me back.

Game actually looks good though!

bruce lee created jeet june do which was the very first mixed martial art, was about learning all types of fighting, not just one style. Like it says in the video, father of mixed martial arts.
danna white said the same thing years ago, he probably told the devs they should put bruce lee in there and it makes sense to do it. thumb.gif

It's gonna be cool, if they pull it off...

Would have been nice to see Bruce's art progress over time. He wouldn't have fought like he did in the 60/70s probably if he were alive today.
