That's your culprit. I had the same issue as well.

The "cheap" solution is to strap a 60-80mm fan onto the VRM heatsink to the left of your CPU. If you still have a stock AMD cooler, take the fan off of it and use that. It's an excellent fan for cooling the VRM heatsink on that board.

The more expensive solution is to get a motherboard with a better VRM setup. I got an ASUS Sabertooth 990 FX R2.0, and I have not seen my CPU throttle a single time. It's 4.7Ghz 24/7 stable and 5Ghz+ benchable on my current setup. thumb.gif

A lot of people did. It's the only way to stop the throttling short of buying a different board. wink.gif

if that's the case, then i need to rearrange my case so the airflow hits the vrm. i have the h80 next to the vrm so not much air is hitting it, i think im going to try and get a h100i so i can mount it on the top of my case. i cant have the h80i on top because it just wont fit on top of my phantom 410.

Thread Starter
Thanks for all the replys guys. Im going to put my water cooling system on it i think. Just need a new water block to finish the loop.
360 rad should keep it a bit cooler lol. I also noticed after messing about with HT link and NB and ram timings ( they were all auto set way off for what they should be) It helped a it.

Crysis 3 runs Awesome now! absolutely no lag and a steady 80fps and high. But could be better i thought.

I will get back to you all when i set up the water cooling! Cheers!

Or both.In any case, I play BF4 with an nvidia card too and the FX doesn't behave like that. Not even an older Athlon II as a matter of fact.
