4670k 4.4 GHz OC safe? Below average chip, sadly.

Hey,

Is it safe to run my 4670k @ 1.304v core, 1.2v cache and 1.9vccin. I can't get it stable anything below that, or at least not yet, It's really time consuming T_T

Seems like my chip is below average sadly, I max at 4.4 GHz. And talking about temps, my cooler is NH-D14 and the temps after 1 hour of prime were around 66c in core 1, rest 63c.

@4.4ghz is fine but with it running on 1.3vcore is kinda high BUT always keep inmind not all chips are the same and not all chips behave the same. some chips are able to run high overclocks at low voltage and other chips are able to run average overclock on high voltages but it shouldnt hurt them... I've been running my 3770k at 4.3ghz at 1.24vcore, it might not be that high of an overclock but it is what this chips is capable of and there is nothing i can do about it except of probably replacing the chip which is really not something i wanna do biggrin.gif

Q) Is it safe to run?
A) what you should do to verify if your OC is "safe" you should be able to run either prime95, AIDA64 or any other stability software for a minimum of 12 hours and an average of 24 hour stress test. (others will tell you to run prime95 or AIDA64 for 6 hours and call it goods but i've been in situations where the computer would crash if it runs for more than 6 hours, so thats what i recommend to verify if its capable of running for long periods of time with no issues.

hope that gives you an idea. good luck and welcome to OCN smile.gif

1.3v is OK, a little higher than the average for 4.4 but its still
ok and it theese temps look OK too. No worries, it seems to work
fine.. did you run prime95?

Yeah the temps seemed kinda low to me I was expecting 80's or so. Maybe It's because I have my balcony door open, so they will probably go up by 5c or so. biggrin.gif

Thanks for your input, tonight I will be running it for longer than 1 hour and see what happens.
