These would be great for school.
Exactly what I was thinking You can get a quad core, 8 gigs of ram, 1tb of hdd and a 260x system from Newegg for about $400

There is 1 guy who made a video and another site did a test but with a r7 240. These could be great for a low cost machine

I wonder if these can be overclocked at all?(Not through multiplier of course).

Or do they not have options period?

Well, the chipset/PCH (called FCH in APUs) is on-die this time. So every clock this platform has is going to be inside the APU. No idea if that will make things easier or not.

Entry level is still the largest and I think that was the point. Of course it doesn't mean that they have the resources to necessarily go after the performance market anyway.

That price is quite magnific aswell!
The power efficient 1.3 quadcore model should consume about 15W wink.gif

AMD should launch their Beema 15w chips asap for the AM1 platform. that will make it even more appealing.

http://www.anandtech.com/show/7514/amd-2014-mobile-apu-update-beema-and-mullins

Beema (15w) beats A6-5200 (25w) by a good 20% margin on both CPU and GPU performance. A6-5200 is similar to Athon 5350 except for a 50 mhz lower CPU clock. Beema is socket compatible with Kabini and AMD should bring this part to AM1 by Q4 2014 before Cherrytrail. Being manufactured at TSMC 28HPM means Beema should be available in plenty. AMD should grab the opportunity and run with it.

Performance market? Did they mean the FX 8 core and 6 core market?

I wonder what they consider performance and main stream tongue.gif
