we'd happily game at maximum-quality settings on the Kabini platform.
It is only a factor

Probably costs $20-$30 (and I'm not even sure about that much) more or so for CPU + mobo but the performance for games like SC2, dota 2 CS, etc. is on a completely different level compared to Kabini.
The benches they did with the 750Ti show it only 30% slower than the Intel 3770k so I would say it is not worth spending extra on. Clearly what goes for desktop parts doesn't go here maybe since each core has it's own dedicated fpu or because the design is not really bottlenecked in other areas where bulldozer arch was.

I also doubt it would cost little less to go the Intel route but I do agree that you don't need the igpu in kabini since you'd be using a dgpu.

Piss poor table but it looks fine to me. I think for simple gaming with no AA and medium graphics it would do just fine.

I wonder how one of these would handle Titanfall with a 5750... 60fps feasible? It's a source game so that has me a little worried.

Haha word.

Yea this will do great for low settings. I am thinking of paring mine with a r7 250.

Doesn't it bother anybody that the gaming performance is better than Kaveri. I mean really this Kabini part is actually just the a6-1450 with higher clocks which means we have a 8W part with slightly higher clocks completely stomping a product that can only go as low as 15W (yes Kaveri scales amazing on lower clocks) Of course Kaveri would win in any bench besides gaming but this is really something.

Maybe I will pick up this AM1 platform if Mullins/Beema deliver because it really screams quality for such a cheap part.
I still don't think these are good for gaming. I'd always suggest going with either an FX-6300 or one of the Athlon II x4 CPUs for use with a budget GPU. Otherwise an i3 or pentium would do just fine too.

The perf/$ is just so good with these though... like you could build a system for <$400 at Newegg pricing with a 260x... I doubt the same could be done for anything else.

Wait. Would you even need a cooler, or could you just make sure there's some airflow over the IHS? Heck, if you had something like a MacBook (aluminium case that acts as a heatsink), I think it would work perfectly fine with a thin layer of TIM.

Would yield you some toasty legs but if I'm not mistaken the macbook air does this already.

Nothing, considering the cost of a quad core Sempron and a FM1 motherboard.

8W would work just by securing the processor with some pressure against the computer casing LOL.
