The way I see it you hold the opinion that CPUs matter very little when it comes to gaming, that you can't even really see a difference between something like a FX4100 and an i5 3570K.

But on the other hand you also seem to think that mantle helps greatly? You do know that what mantle does is remove (some) of those CPU bottlenecks that you claim don't matter in the first place?

They're not bottlenecked by a fairly high-end CPU. An FX, i3, i5 or i7 will be fine in most games but as you mentioned in your post, Kabini isn't as fast as any of those options...And he was talking 720p where CPUs tend to be the bottleneck, when I'm comparing those chips I'm usually talking 1080p where GPUs bottleneck often.

It's not "Games are CPU bottlenecked" or "Games are GPU bottlenecked", it's both but leans towards GPU bottlenecks except in certain situations where you have a slow CPU (ie. Kabini, Atom) or a low resolution.

So mantle is mostly useless when the user has one of the above CPUs?

But that's the point here, why would you buy one of these for gaming when for such a small amount more you could get something that's considerably better. 2 mantle games aren't going to make the overall picture of Kabini much better in the eyes of a gamer who wants to play league, SC2, dota and so on...

You could compare kabini to really low end discrete GPUs like GT 630s or something. Yes they exist, yes they're cheap but no they're not good value for gaming.

Good haswell celeron/pentium setup is maybe $20 more expensive than a kabini setup and even FM2 stuff is cheap these days. Both of these options offer considerably better price/performance and performance for gaming compared to Kabini. And neither costs much more either. Kabini just is not a good part for a desktop gaming build.

Exactly, this chip totally isn't meant for gaming, so I'm not sure why OCN seems so focused on comparing it's game performance. Throw it in a HTPC and you will have a hard time finding better value.

~30% less frames than a 3770k accordibg to that review with a dgpu for gaming. Kabini with a entry dgpu certainly the best price perf. Alatar there is this deal where you get psu case board and apu for 100 dollar besides it is better than the celeron 2 core crap. More cores is better multi tasking and who doesn't like that.

Either way everything on low 720P is should run just fine.
Next we're going to see people recommend Bay trail boards for gaming... (BT btw has similar IPC compared to jaguar).

Makes absolutely no sense. Of course you can find some extremely GPU bound scenarios where it wont matter much but when your CPU is going to get absolutely murdered by $20 higher priced setups in SC2, lol, dota 2, wow etc. (the kinds of games people would play on low end hardware) it makes no sense to buy that low power tablet CPU anymore.

For HTPC use, sure. For gaming, FM2 and H81, both have better performance, better price/performance, better upgrade options, and the extra cost is negligible compared to the entire cost of the setup.

It doesn't matter if things run "fine" (whatever that means) at 720p. There are options that are much better out there for next to no extra money. Suggesting tablet grade CPUs for desktop gaming is pointless.

37w , is that for total system draw ? I´m also wondering if that 1.3 ghz can handle HD , or how it compares to the e350 I was using,
That 2 hole heat sink is a bit of a bummer but maybe a GPÛ cooler like the zalman VF 950 or something might be alright.

You know if you had consistent options across brands then you have been taken more seriously....

These can game, it is just what to expect and what not to expect.

We know what to expect and what to not expect poke.gif

It is pointless to you, we know what we are doing.

I wouldn't recommending buying a 1.3ghz cpu for anything.

No this is socket rating. Though they are cramming a lot of the system into that socket. However, motherboard design and memory will be variables...plus anything you might add.

I'd expect a bare bones system with one of these to be rated at 75 watts or so...probably would need a 200watt PSU to be safe. Just a guess though...it might come under that. No matter what it isn't going to be needed a lot of electricity.

I've seen some pretty weak CPUs running HD play back...it takes a bit more of a CPU to decode a blueray off of a disk, but just to play a 1080p mp4 or something doesn't take much horse power. Though I think these could even handle playing from a Blueray as well...you just wouldn't be able to skip around easily.

A youtube video shows it pulling 45 watts from the wall with a very powerful psu.

I am pretty sure with a lower end psu it will be under 40 watts. Oh and it was the 2ghz quad.

It is no where near 75 watts.

Here is a video of it pulling 30 watts
