Disk read error occured

Hello everyone how is it going?
So this message popped up on me a few days ago, one reboot later the PC worked fine so I thought it was okay but this problem has happened repeatedly today ( took like 3-4 reboots to get the PC going ) and the PC got stuck on " starting windows " for around 5 minutes.
It has now booted but is this an indication that my HDD is going bad? Keeping in mind that this HDD is around a year old only. Should I get a new one and stop using this one or?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Get a program that will indicate your Harddrives S.M.A.R.T Status and see if it says bad or not but by the looks of it your drive is indeed failing.

Go to HDDguru.com and download MHDD. Run it from self-booting media and run its surface scan to check for marginal sectors that require several attempts to read correctly, something that can't be done with the usual scans. It's OK for theire to be a few slow sectors per 1TB, and with some models or brands it's normal. The's also a Windows version of this program, HDDscan, but it reports lots of false errors, probably because of Windows overhead, even if the disk is only for data storage, not booting.

If its a standard HDD then you need to start worrying sounds like the drive is failing, can you hear any strange clicks ?
It could be that the drive is not spinning up fast enough or properly or just that the drive is borked eg bad sectors etc.

Either way take that hard disk out and grab the data you can in another pc before its too late.

That said if its a SSD i have no idea since they just tend to break completely.
