Help me fix my monitor!! Samsun 2253lw splotches.

I have had a Samsung 2253lw for a few years now.

Today while using the monitor, everything was fine. I started a game of BF4 and all of a sudden i got these weird splotches on my monitor.
I took some screen shots and the splotches do not show up in the screen caps, so i am assuming that it is a monitor problem.

Any idea on what is causing this or how to fix it?
I am not afraid to tear apart the monitor to try and fix it, but would like to have some idea of what the problem might be first.

I can't afford to replace the monitor for another month or so but plan on getting a 23-24" Asus.

EDIT:
Nothing got spilled on it etc.
I tried pressing on the screen to see if the splotches changed at all, but they are still the same. (as you would do for a dead pixel)
I have tried leaving the monitor turned off for a while, but to no avail.

Welcome to the dead monitor group!! Population us!!!

If it makes you feel any better I broke a $335 Qnix 27" after only 3 days of ownership with my dam banana hands trying to mod it frown.gif

Do the symptoms show up @ the BIOS screen and/or another output device (ie another computer) hooked up to it? It might be your vid card / drivers / os.

Yes, try different input sources as part of your troubleshooting process.

However, I'm leaning on the fact that the monitor is toast. frown.gif

I got out the laptop for another source, i found all my cables, then came to the realization that i could just disconnect the inputs from the monitor. I did so and it still had the same problem.
Thanks for taking hthe time to try to help me.
