[WCCF] AMD Pirate Islands : R9 300 Series Roadmap Leak - Page 9

When is GDDR6 coming out? wink.gif And AMD has very odd bus and ROP configurations if you're used to Nvidia. For Nvidia, 64 bits = 8 ROPs. For AMD, they're disconnected. See 32 ROP Pitcairn having a 33% narrower bus than 32 ROP Tahiti.

GDDR6 is supposed to come with pirate islands. This is nothing but some guy who went into excel and made up numbers that are slightly resembling towards past gens.

This Graphics card game is a very expensive habit. They always keep us drooling with leaked specs of the coming awesomeness that perpetually awaits us. The grass is always greener (or red-er) around the corner! That said ,I can't wait to upgrade from Nvidia 600 series to 800 ! But 256 bit ? WTH?

All in this same, irrational ratio. (5.33...)

I'm not buying it at this point.

This.

Also I lol'd at this:

And memory bandwidth = bus width these days? lachen.gif

It's always this same guy over at wccf who drags the whole site down.

yep.

Of course its on a different node but It may kick a fair amount of butt for a mainstream card. Getting Tahiti level power in third tier cards would be remarkable.

the thing is we already got a generation of new cards and new prices with zero increase to performance. I'm saying right now that whatever card replaces the 7870/270X better perform on par with a gtx780 or it's yet another kick in the nuts for consumers. if it's only on par with anything Tahiti, it had better cost way under $200. and how about some improvement to power consumption too. obviously it's getting harder to increase performance and the process are getting expensive, but still, this is not too much to ask. it only sounds remarkable because AMD added an extra tier instead of replacing Tahiti with Hawaii. the 270/270X should have had Tahiti power, so if anything they should skip the "better late than never" part and give a different chip with more performance for the money. otherwise this is going to be part of a 3 year set back in this segment. this performance segment is starting to look like the entry level one where all those x450 cards have performed the same year after year for like 6 years until recently. basically, give me big gains for the same price every 12-18 months or just keep rebranding and I'll buy something else. anyway, these specs are 100% fake so who knows what the 370X will look like. I just don't think it'll be anything positive if it looks like Tahiti, especially < Tahiti XT.

i'm sure a lot of leaks are purposely done to keep you waiting in the hope you buy their product and not the rivals biggrin.gif

I feel like WCCF jumped on the next-gen gpu hype train and made up this to ride on the rumors of Nvidia's Maxwell. If both rumors are true then Nvidia definitely has a 880ti in the works.

wait..so none of the R9-370s through 390s are rebrands right?

There is no competition. It's a duopoly and we're paying the price.

Price fixing non-competitive market ftw!
Says the one that bought a 780 Ti rolleyes.gif

price fixing is bad but encouraging is equally bad.

that's our fault because they keep on raising the prices and we keep on buying regardless rolleyes.gif
